im a 30 yr old female tried tetracycline for a while with old Dr. but new Dr said tetracycline is useles unless you have large cystic type acne which i dont s o i am on 100mg a day of minocycline. just been looking on line to see if this itchy rach on my legs ive had for 3 weeks is from it. i started this about 6 weeks ago. im be happy to know it is a side effect and not some disease or bug or something! my stop taking for a week to see it it clears up. but my skin looks great hahaa. maybe its worth an itchy rash in exchange!

I have been taking Minocycline(50mg) for about probably a year now. Also, I have been using Benzoyl Peroxide(5%) face wash at the same time. So far the two medications have worked pretty well together. Neither one works good alone. So, if ya can ask your doctor for a pill and a face wash. I think the results are much better...

I started using benzamycin and retinamicro for a while and wanted to try this stuff along with it. I have been using this stuff for 2 weeks and it seems to make my face a lot smoother. My scars on my face are not as red, and the blackheads i had on my chin are gone. I am really liking this stuff although it makes me dizzy. I am scared that someday it might stop working.

i was on minocycline for about a year and a half, and it worked GREAT. my face was 99% clear. i think i was taking 100mg once a day and then slowed it down to every other day after about half a year. however, after a year and a half, i randomly broke out horribly one day (worse than i had been before i took it) and found out i had become immune to the medication. i was put on ampicillin and that did virtually nothing, and now i have been on doxycycline for about five weeks and am waiting to see some results..

This works better than oral Teracycline or Oxytetracycline but must be taken on an empty stomach, as milk, especially, can interfere with it's absorbtion. The P. Acnes bacterium will eventually become resistant and with me, it did after about two years. It also caused dicolouration on scar tissue on my shins, where I had been kicked playing soccer. These marks were a blue/grey colour and were embarrassing when I was at the beach or swimming pool. When I stopped taking it and was successfully treated with Accutane, the marks faded but I agreed to be a 'guinea pig' for different types of laser treatment on them. It's a great treatment if you are gonna grow out of it, otherwise, it's Accutane.

I am a 20 year old whose acne seems to get worse and worse as time passes on. It stinks! Anyhow I took Minocycline for 6 months but had to go off because at month 4 to 6 I had a horrible rash like looking acne break out on my bakc chest and face. The rash itched very badly. Minocycline did work I admit but it seems as though its only for a little while it works. I was very dry when taking it and my stomach felt different as if all the bacteria even the good was gone. It made me have bowel problems to say the least. Minocycline did completely clear my face except the hyperpigmentation I had. Minocycline made me red and more sensitive to the sun even though I am never in it, it changed my skin tone to yuk!

Remember every skin type is different it may work for you it may not but realize it's a short term support, you shouldnt be on med's all your life, imagine being on acutane all your life, what a mess!

I am 26 years old suffering with acne for 13 years. Took Minocycline on three occasions at 6 months intervals. Also used Minocycline with Zineryt topical lotion. As like any other drug, there was some improvements while taking the prescription. As soon as i stopped the acne was back at full force.

I've been on Minocycline for three weeks at my acne has gotten worse, the worst it's ever been. I'm also getting it in places where I didn't have it before. I hear that it takes awhile to start working, I really hope this is true. No side effects though, other then my skin being a bit more sensitive.
