I used minocycline (Micromicin in Mexico) about a year ago and it did a great job with clearing up my face. The downside, the initial 100mg dose made me sleepy and dizzy most of the time. I was on it for 30 days and noticed a great improvement.

During my early teens I started to break out on my chin, nose, forehead, chest and back. My dermatoligist decided to give me minocycline and I saw amazing results. My skin was better than ever. But after using it for a year I started to notice bruises on my legs that I had never had before and more kept coming. It was horrible, I didn't know what was going on. I thought cancer, but my family and relatives have never really had it. No, it was minocycline. I decided to stop taking it because sooner or later my legs were going to be covered in green marks. I stopped taking it for sometime and my acne was ok for awhile but then it came back again after 3 months. Once again I went back on it, but this time it didn't help. I've stopped it completely and now use Proactiv which worked amazing in the beginning. My acne isn't bad right now, it's just when I'm about to get my period I break out a little. I'm 17 so I'm thinking about going on birth control but I'm nervous about all the side effects. I hope it works for all of you though!

I went on minocycline about 2 months ago...the first week or two I was worried because it made me somewhat dizzy all the time. Basically it felt like I was slightly drunk, I would kind of walk into things and stuff. However, this feeling soon went away, and now I have no problems at all with it. Unlike doxycyline, which I was on before, I don't get nauseous if I don't take it with food. My acne is definitely clearing up, although I'm not sure how much of that is due to the minocycline and how much is due to the tazorac gel that I started at the same time. In any case, my face looks much better, and I would definitely recommend these two products.

I started taking this stuff for backne and acne on my chest, i was already on differin for my face, which isn't working too well for me. the acne started going away a bit, but not dramatically and when it went away my skin would have dark sports, hyperpigmentation. i read somewhere that this is a side effect of minocycline so now i'm really mad. i'm going to my dermatologist tomorrow to see if he can switch the prescription, because not only did my acne not fully go away, i'll have spots on my back which makes wearing a bathing suit embarrassing

I got acne rosacea in my thirties, tried tetracycline unsuccessfully before moving to 100mg/day minocycline. I got that down to 50mg, or one tablet per day fairly quickly (couple of months?) once my face cleared significantly. Since then, I've occasionally some of the treatment to see what happens but always needed to start again within a few weeks. I've lost track of how long I've been on this drug, but I'm sure that it's over 10 years and possibly nearer 15! I know it works to reduce my acne to a manageable level (two or three spots a month), I know that it's still effective after extensive use and I've never had any problems whatsoever which could be attributed to its use. That's quite an endorsement I know, but as one of the longest term users of the drug to contribute here, I'm in a good position to sing its praises. It works for me.

I too have been on Minocin for about 9 months. Recently went off it (about 2 weeks now). Noticing the acne is coming back again-especiALLY BIG PIMPLES. I went off it because I noticed I was getting little white lumps (similar to white heads, but without the puss. They do not go away however. Some I've had for 6 months or so. I think they are scars and permanent. I was very depressed about them and so went off Minocin. Not entirely sure the Mino is responsible though. Could it be caused by the sun? I am in the sun a lot. I am also taking Propecia I(have been for a few years). Can it be the combo? Very confused and upset because I am damned if I do and damned if I don't take this stuff. My question is this....has anyone one else on Minocine experienced these little white lumps? Any ideas as to the cause? I have an appointment with my dermatologist, but it isn't for a while. Any help GREATLY welcome. I am truly fed up as I am into my 40's now....and have had a rough 3-4 years of outbreak after it was under control for years. Thanks in advance.

i have been using mino for about one month and a half now. I am using it in combination with benzaclin my face has gotten better but I also have acne in my back. The acne in my back has not cleared up so im not really sure if the mino is working or not. I think only the benzaclin is working because i use it on my face and my face is doing good but i dont use it on my back and my back is bad. But if the mino was working, all over my face would be good.
does anyone have explanation for this? if you do it will help soooooooo much. thanks good luck to every body else who has acne!
