Pros Affordable
Cons Hard to remember to take sometimes untill you get into the habit, but that's how it goes with anything
Bottom line I didn't respond very effectively to Monocycline. It did reduce my acne a bit, but I never got clear from it. I changed to Amoxicillin by recommendation of my dermatologist and it's orking better for me right now. He said people who usually don't respond well to Monocycline do better with Amoxicillin (sp?).

Pros Ive been on 50mg twice a day and it has cleared up acen quite well. Im on it for the 2nd time and worked well the first time. Im using in combination with differin gel
Cons A couple of months after i stopped using it the first time acne came back much worse. Also the first time round i did have nausea because i didnt take it with enough food but that goes away straight after you stop using it.
Bottom line Minocycline provides a noticeable difference. In my experience it must be taken with meals. I hope that i will stop using mino in the next 5 months (about 3 months in now) and i can keep using differin to keep my acne away. It is working slower than it did the 1st time but my acne is much worse this time round. When i started my 1st course i on had pimple on my face. When i started 2nd course i had acne on both cheeks and my neck below my jaw.

I will stick with this because im not clear but acne is much better than when i started, especially on my cheeks

Pros Face is less swollen and "angry" looking
Cons side effects; makes me feel sick if i don't take it with food.
Bottom line I recently started taking 200mg of Minocycline a day...and I've already noticed a difference! My face isn't as swollen and I've even had a compliment that my face looked thinner. Also my breakouts were very painful and that has subsided.

Pros cleared up cystic acne after the 1st week, im just noticing the results after 1.5 months. my skin is more even toned and breakouts are less constant. It takes time to see results but its worth it
Cons headaches the first 3-5 days. Except for that there are no significant side effects. been taking 100mg minocycline daily on an empty stomach first thing in the morning and waiting 45min before having breakfast
Bottom line to be really specific i started with an initial dose of 200mg and tapered down to 100 mg daily every morning on an empty stomach.
1st week: cleared up cystic acne on neck and jawline
2nd week: acne seemed to stop but redness and inflammation wouldnt go away
2-4th week: had some breakouts, less than before starting treatment, but acne redness and inflammation hadnt subsided
4-6th week: acne that appeared on problem areas has stopped, rednes has been reduced significantly and skin is more even toned. Have had a couple cystic pimples (small size) on places where it normally wouldnt appear but they have quickly dissapeared 3-4 days after.

*im pretty satisfied with the results, i still have 1 more month to go and i will recommend it. by the way ive been using Proactiv along the treatment. I think it works even better if a topical is used alongisde an oral

Pros Cleared up the nodule type acne and help the rest as well.
Cons Yeast infections the first time around, and bad headaches during the second dosage.
Bottom line I was on minocycline once before for three months, about a year ago, and it worked wonders. After going off it for three months, during my normal visit to the derm the doctor asked me if I wanted to try it again. I agreed. The second time around I had terrible headaches. Bottom line: first time great, second time, probably due to changes in my body, it was not agreeable. FYI: I am allergic to pencillin.

Pros decent at getting rid of acne, i had been on other acne meds from my dermotologist and they started to have dulled effects so he switched me, it seemed my skin had a better tone and scars went away quicker.
Cons While taking this medicine i has headaches everynight, after about a month i got intensely sick and started having piercing headaches, blurred vision, and vomiting for almost 4 days. after getting it out of my system im much better.
Bottom line If you start getting headaches or weird vision stop immediatly
