I have mixed feelings about microdermabrasion. I am a teenager with acne prone skin, and, after a breakout, I am always left with stubborn "blemishes" (I call them scars, but they are not indented/permanent) that take several weeks to fade completely. I used microdermabrasion to fade these marks so that I did not have them on top of new pimples. When I first left the salon, I was amazed at the results. My skin felt better than it has in years--clean and radiant. They say you need up to several treatments to fade blemishes and scars, but, by the next day, I was amazed to see that my stubborn marks were GONE--yes, completely!
HOWEVER--the treatment supposedly brings all your skin's impurities to the surface. And wow, I had more impurities than I had thought; my triumph (and self confidence) was shattered when, just the day after my treatment, I broke out worse than I had in months...
The breakout is clearing, but now I am back to square A: new scars. I want to get rid of them, but I'm afraid to do more microderm because I don't want to break out again... :(

I had two continuous treatments and one other a long time ago. And I have seen amazing results. The thing with these treatments like my derm had told me, after your face is awesome you gotta do it every once in a while (every month). I hope I can get rid of my raised scar but my derm said it will. My other raised scar on my chin is almost gone (I think it was from the crystal peel). Good luck to all

after tyring everthing on the shelves i decided to go see a specialist who recomended i do 6 treatments of microdermebration. My skin felt smooth after but it made me break out worss than before but i kept going because i heard you have to complete the treatment to work. It never worked it just made my face super irrated and increased my breakouts... finnally a year later my face dosnt look as raw as the micro made it and it calmed a whole lot

Absolutely horrible for acne and scars/red marks. I had micro-derm treatments for three months, twice a week, and my face had never been so horrible. I had so many new breakouts after each session that my face had double the acne in the end, which meant double the red marks and shallow scars. Before microdermabrasion, I only had acne on my chin and the apples of my cheeks, and by the end, my entire face was covered in acne. DEFINITELY would not recommend unless your face is no longer acne-prone.

I just started the microdermabrasion treatments 4 weeks ago and so far I like the results. I have hyperpigmentation, shallow indentations and moderate acne. The microdermabrasion has helped to even out my indentations....after 2 treatments!!!! After my first treatment, my acne got worse, but now my acne is clearing up and the hyperpigmentation is beginning to lighten.

didnt help at all. It caused my skin layer thinner and spoilt my normal skin into sensitive type. I have never used sun screen before without any problem. After the use of mocrodermabrasion, my skin cant stand under sun even a few minutes.

I am an esthetician and perform glycolic and microdermabrasion services as well as the ususal facials. I have acne clients, mainly teanagers, that I treat on schedule every two weeks (facial with extractions, high frequency to kill the bacteria) with awewsome results. They also follow a cleansing and treatment regimen prescribed my me. I have not had anyone want microdermabrasion for ice pick scars or any scarring as of yet. I have only performed this service for sun damage. One of the most important things about microdermabrasion or glycolics is post treatment. I read in a few posts that there was darkening of the skin.

I have tried the new L'Oreal microdermabrasion kit and it is really good. Its only approx £14 and I thought I would give it a go rather than pay out loads of money for salon treatment. My skin was quite bad about a week ago (and I have had acne for 9 years, Im now 27) and although it says on the box that you shouldnt use the kit more than twice a week, I have used it every evening after my normal cleansing routine. My skin is so smooth and my acne is disappearing fast so I would recommend the L'Oreal product for sure

I had 7 sessions of laser skin rejuvenation, sugar peel, and microdermabrasion combined which all costs $1800. After the 1st 2 session everything was fine but after the 3rd session my doctor has press too hard on my face on certain spots and now I have 5 new scars from the treatment. The are dented in the skin and looks really aweful in dim lighting. I'm so sad about the whole thing and this is a certified MD.

I just had my 6th microdermabrasion for a surgical scar. I am amazed! The scar has nearly disapeared. The strength was stronger than normally done for a face but I am thrilled with the result.
