Done this a while back about 10 sessions it what they reccomend. It was a tad bit of expensive and didn't do nothing to my acne scars or red marks. It was a waste of $750CDN for a package of 10. Don't waste your money on this...

I purchased a 6 session microdermabrasion series at a salon. It was about $400. It was about $200 cheaper to buy as a set than to pay as you go. One session at a time costs about $100. I just finished the series. What it helped the most with was the indented scars I had on my cheeks. I could start seeing a difference from the 1st procedure. It helped a little bit with the red marks but didn't get rid of them like I hoped. It doesn't help get rid of acne, only the after-effects. I think it was worth getting it done professionally once but too expensive to keep having it done on a regular basis. I'm planning on having a couple more treatments without purchasing the series and then I plan on using an OTC product such as Loreal's microdermabrasion kit.

Just a quick note I recently tried microdermabrasin in Toronto I am alergic to nickle and I had a very dark mark on my stomach for about two years. It had to be at least 3inches by 3inches and had scared. Anyhow it was ugly and my friend told me about a clinic on Bay Street the cost for one treatment was 100 and there was a package price to which now I think I should have purchased I have tried it once and when I seen my boyfriend a week later he was looking at me and he made a comment on my stomach I hadn't told him about the treatment but he noticed it along with my daughter and friends after on treatment no side effects I had great results and confidence
I think that Microdermabrasin does work and is worth trying out before trying all of those over price alternatives

I did it 8 times, during that period it's was great
BUT after I stopped it, I started to breakout and it get real worst.
Now a day I have to take Accutane to get ride of those acne
that cause from Micro-Dermabrassion procedure(I am 100% sure).

I went through a 10 treatment course a few years back--and while I saw results (~35%), they are mostly not permanent. I was not aware of that until *after* I'd finished.
So far the best treatment for me has been the subcutaneous subcision. I had the sides of my face and above the chin areas done and the results amazed me.. at least a 50% improvement. But I think a lot has to do with your acne scars, and the skill of the doc performing it.. so choose wisely. I go to Dr. Amy Kassouf, if you're interested.

I have one more miscrodermabrasion scheduled for next week. I have had 7 so far and i am thrilled with the results. The first three or so i wasn't too impressed and did break out a lot. But as the strength of the sessions increased (cause they start you off low and build you up) things started to take shape; my skin looks much smoother, cleaner, clearer. I just hope that the results last.

DO NOT MIX UP MICRO-DERM WITH DERMABRASION:
micro is a exfoliative procedure much like a facial...not really meant for scarring though it can level superficial/light scars and ice picks to an extent if you go for repeated treaments
dermabrasion is very invasive and is being replaced with laser resurfacing (the erbium) as a better option.
my ratings are for the micro-derm...very good at smoothing skin, not so good for levelling

I know Microdermabrasion is much different and supposedly not as effective as Dermabrasion, but it may be something to consider. I've had 10 treatments and am very pleased with the results. After the first treatment my face felt very soft, but no difference in the scars. After the 6th treatment, I noticed a big difference. The discoloration of my scars were almost gone. Now after the 10th treatment, my face is all one color, the redness of my scars are gone, and I feel comfortable going out with out my make-up on which I haven't been able to do in many years. Microdermabrasion done by a dermatologist is something I strongly recommend. It will not remove scars but it will greatly improve the look of your skin. If you have a serious skin problem, it may take 10-15 treatments, but at $100 a treatment it is much less expensive than other procedures. Another plus is that there is no recovery period, the skin gets a little red afterwards and may peel, but it only lasts a few hours, at least it did for me. I would say about 15 treatments of Microdermabrasion is equal to a full face laser surgery which can be thousands of dollars. I am happy with my skin and it's appearance, and it's really controled my oily skin and acne. It also smooths out fine lines that is a problem for you.
