here's a little info about my situation...i have moderate acne, i think, which is worsened by dry skin and my attempts to get rid of the dry skin. i get the occasional decent-sized pimple, but the most annoying thing are the small whiteheads (?) or bumbs on my forehead. they just stick around forever! occasionally one will surface and i can get rid of it, but mostly when i pick at them they just get huge, so i let them be.
right now i put nothing on my skin besides moisturizer and mineral makeup. i wash with a mild cleaser, and i have modified my diet and began taking vitamin E, lipovox and vitamin c. i have seen a pretty good improvment, but still can't get rid of those tiny white bumps- they are mostly just on my forehead, with a few random ones on my face. should i get a facial/extraction? ive tried tons of topical products, and i do NOT want to do anything else topical because everything i have tried had made my face a nightmare to deal with- i have very sensitive skin. any suggestions?

This is reallllly embaressing...
So, thanks to my parents, i was cursed with my mom's pale/translucent skin, and my dad's THICK, dark hair. I have hair on my thighs...not just the top/inside...all over- im not a wearwolf or anything, but i have a good amount of hair that im SURE is not normal (my boyfriend has like NO hair whatsoever on his thigs and has smooth, perfect skin, so its pretty horrible for me). so i've avoided wearing shorts since i was 13 (im 23 now, and female, and i live in FL- so, im sure you could figure out how much that sucks). Sometimes i shave my entire legs, which is great, but after a few hours i start getting tiny pimples everywhere! these are not ingrown hairs, they are small, and pop right away with pus. Even when i don't shave, i get pimples, not just the tiny ones, sometimes big ones. i end up massacre-ing my skin on my thighs because ive become obsessed with popping the pimples, even if they are so small and un-noticeable. its not like i have crazy cysts or anything, just like TONS of red spots and little bumps- what the hell can i do to stop the madness! i just want to be normal... ps-within the next week i am starting laser hair removal treatments, so eventually i won't have to shave at all- i'll be embaressed to even show mu legs to the technition! and even when i don't shave i still get pimples there so...i dont know what to do! ps-i dont have acne anywhere else on my body except my face

I've been hearing TONS of things about saw palmetto on this board, but i have to admit, i haven't done much research on it. i was at target the other day and saw it there, so i bought a bottle of 160mg soft gels...then when i got home i read the back that said it was a MALE HORMONE FOR THE PROSTATE AND URINARY TRACT!
is it bad for women to take it? Also, i got some of the non-synthetic Vitamin E, and i was wondering how much i should take...ive also heard that rubbing vitamin E directly onto skin will reduce redness/scarring. has anyone tried this? if so, when do you apply it?

This is my new diet log. I am eliminating gluten, sugar (except when naturally occuring in fruit) and dairy completely and SIGNIFICANTLY reducing my wheat and carbohydrate intake (hoping to eventually get rid of wheat altogether). I am eating more beneficial fruits, veggies and seafood, and continuing to not eat red meat.
The things i eat that i am trying to avoid/cut down on are highlighted in red WF=wheat free GF=gluten free DF=dairy free DAY 1 -Green smoothie (spinach, mango, strawberries) -Homemade WF/GF organic felafel made with garbanzo flour, fried -Homemade organic hummus (w/EVO) and fresh veggies (cucumber, red/green pepper) -Homemade DF cucumber dill sauce with tahini -Organic apple juice

I've noticed that there are many people on here who are taking hormones which is great when they are derived from plants, soy, etc. However, Premarin (or Cenestin, Premphase, Prempro etc) is derived from the urine of pregant horses, and in addition to being extremely inhumane, also causes some nasty side-effects when ingested.
i'll try to explain the process without rambling: in order to obtain the most concentrated level of estrogen, female horses are intentionally impregnated and kept in very cramped stalls so that they cannot lie down or turn around for 6 months. They are given minimal amounts of water (in order to get a more potent sample) and are not allowed to go outside during their pregnancy. The foals, which are considered a bi-product of the proceedure, are usually fattened up and then sold at auctions to "killer buyers" or representatives from slaughter houses. Within 6 months the mares are usually impregnated again and continue the process. here are some websites that give more info: http://eve.enviroweb.org/perspectives/pmu.html http://www.equineadvocates.com/premarin.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjVuseclfxY http://www.premarin.org/ |
