About 10 years, starting when I was about 14. It wasn't too bad in the first few years, but it got really bad once I got to college. To this day I am still plagued by it, but it has gotten somewhat better. Sadly, i've got a lot of scarring/hyperpigmentation too. It'd be nice if the acne would just stop, so that way i could really concentrate on the scars and red marks, but it doesn't seem like that will ever happen.

I started getting the occasional pimple at 11. I wouldnt say that i developed what I would call acne until I was 14 when it became moderate. At 15 it got severe and stayed that way until I went to the dermatologist the next year. After using topicals and antibiotics for several years it has been mild to moderate. I am now 20 so I have had acne for about 6 years.

ever since I started my menstruation. I strongly believe it has something to do with my hormonal imbalance.

I've had acne for about 8 yrs now. It started around my freshman year in high school. Here is kind of a time line with acne description:
14-15 - freshman and sophmore year acne began, though it was more like an occasional pimple that usually effected my nose, upper lip or chin. 16-17 - going into junior year my acne didn't really get worse but got more frequent 18-19 - senior year to freshman year of college acne "zones" began to shift from nose, lip, chin to under my lower lip in the U zone. 20 - acne was completely in the U zone and whats even weirder is that it began to effect the right side more than my left... This is the year I went on accutane which completely cleared me up through most of my 21st year. Currently im almost 22 and my acne has began to come back, though not as bad and controlled with bp. I still get more acne on the right side under lower lip (or inner cheek idk) and almost none on my left side. Acne is so weird, im still trying to figure out why my acne shifted zones and i almost never get acne on my forehead, cheeks, nose, upper lip, or chin...cross my fingers. |

I didnt start with acne until age 27.I'm about to be 32,so I have had it for the last 6 years.
It was the worst the year it started...I didnt have one DAY of clear skin from september to February that year and I didnt leave the house hardly at all those months.I had big, throbbing, painful cysts, that kept popping up in the same spots over and over again. I finally found my dermatologist that I have now and he got me started on Differin, minocycline, metrogel, and Neostrata face wash. After a month my face was almost completely clear. The clearness lasted about a year and a half. Now I get non inflammatory acne on and off(a few black heads and whiteheads),although it's definitely not nearly as bad as it was.Mostly hormonal acne around my period or if I get really stressed about something.

i started having acne when i was 11 years old. I am 20 right now...
i can say that sometimes it gets better by itself, but there are several times during the year when it is horrible...

Never-ending 13,2 years. I'm 27 years old now.
The nightmare beggined in November, 1995 when I had 14 years old and it will never end "naturally", no matter the age. I'm sure about that. Isotretinoin at a maintenance dosage will be the only thing will save my life forever up to a better drug be released. Bye
------------
Waiting the SMT D002 drug schechuled 2012 in order to stop this nightmare. *mod edit - url removed, please read the board rules* ______________________________________________________________________________ - I'm actually on a Isotretinoin "Low Dosage" of 0.1 mg / kg since Thursday, January 15, 2009 and I'm getting results like very slight dry lips since the second intake but without any other side effects. Four months in the future I'll apply a maitenance dose of 0.03 mg / kg each 6 or 7 days forever up to the SMT D002 realease without a liver accumulation of the drug at risk levels, so I won't punish my body or generate bad liver-responses as IB or Initial Breakouts. I'm happy because I've a permanent solution now without any other and unuseful course following a "remission dream or fantasy" since I've taken 500 mg / kg without successful to achieve it. If I've the solution now I won't cry instead and search other alternatives. Everything has been said and done, at least of myself. I won't sacrifice my life because acne again. - _____________________________________________________________ |

It started around 5th grade which mean I was around 10-11. I only got small whiteheads and my mom told me to wash my face but I didn't really listen to her. I didn't really pay attention to it until freshman year but I still didn't really care because I thought everyone got acne. It was probably the past summer that I started noticing it more and it started to get worse. I went to the dermatologist but that hasn't helped too much. It really sucks being in high school and noticing how almost everyone has clear skin.
