Sick, while on accutane

I might have mono or strep throat and as some of you know I am on accutane. I am going to the doctor tomorrow to get checked, but I am worried when I tell him I am on accutane he might tell me to stop or something. Is it still okay to take accutane if I had either of these viruses?

For those who had hair loss

Hey all,

Obviously hair loss is listed as a more rare side effect but it seems like quite a few people have experienced it. I was wondering about how people noticed it in any patterns or anything, texture, etc.

For me the hair on top of my head is shedding but is thicker than around the sides and front, and the back is a bit thinner now. I feel like I have noticed the most change above my temples and ears. My hair is always dry and feels brittle. However when it comes out I have the very tiny white spot, or white ball on the end of the follicle. I was wondering if anyone else had similar symptoms whether you are on accutane right now or else finished with a course of it.

It seems to come out when I really just brush my hair with my hand or anything but only if I cause it. Does my hair loss have any characteristics that would point it to being more temporary like telogen effluvium? Like I said in some areas my hair is definitely thinner but no area has any big signs of patchiness like alopecia. I've expressed my concern in other threads about hair loss and I was wondering if anyone has anything to share or might be able to relate with me. It would be nice to get some responses from people who were worried about hair loss during treatment and are now finished. My dermatologist continues to reassure me that everything will grow back and return to normal once I am finished but it still scares me.

will lowering dose break me out?

Hey all,

I am on 80mg right now but I'm worried about my hair loss and I am kind of wanting to go down to 40 mg or at least 60mg. Will lowering my dose probably break me out or is it more than likely things will continue on how they have been?

Just want to kind of gauge what might happen if I lower my dose. I'm a small guy so 80mg kinda worries me. Also, is there any way to tell if my hair loss shows signs of it just being temporary? I just lose random hairs not too specific to any area so I'm hoping it will grow back a lot. I have really thick hair anyway, but just seeing a difference is rather disturbing. Thanks all.

Breakout after upped dose??

Hey I was just upped from 40mg to 80mg. So now I am taking 80mg for month two. Today is my fourth day on 80mg and I already have 4 cysts and a lot more smaller pimples. I hadn't had any more than 2 small cysts month one.

Is it common to breakout after the upped dose and is it just for a short amount of time? My progress was so good month 1 and now 4 days into 80mg my skin looks close to as bad as it did week 1. I'm hoping it only lasts for another week or so.

Accutane Dry nose etc

I've been on Accutane for 22 days now, and recently I've had like a lot of dried up boogers and stuff inside and it's annoying and kinda hurts. I'm wondering if I actually have more pimples inside my nostrils I can't see lol. Has anyone had a similar problem with a lot of dried up snot and stuff in the nose and it seem dry? What do you suggest?

Also, on a side note, do I have to fast before every blood test? I don't have my ipledge book with me on vacation atm and I have a test the day after I return. Would be nice to know.
