Topics I've Started

Is this all in my head or have i really found my cause?

27 November 2010 - 05:31 PM

This is probably going to get some arguements but whatever i can handle it, haha.

I suspected when my acne was its absolute worst ( 20ish pimples on my face, red marks covering my entire face sad.gif   that my probably could be a candida overgrowth. Besides acne i always felt so tired i had too sleep a few times in the day and i couldnt even concentrate. I also never had normal bowels and i would eat and crave sugar, carbs anything i could get my hands on.

Before this i had tried an "alkalising" diet, i ate lots of potatoes and sweet potatoes, raisins, carrots, etc i expected to feel amazing but i felt so sick i had to run to the bathroom in school to throw up and i felt bad for days after. If your not aware of "bad foods" on candida diet, i just listed all of them, haha. Then i went to a friends birthday and drank for the first time, vodka, beer and lots of it. well about half an hour later i was nearly screaming with pain at my stomach and felt like i was dying (alcohol is full of sugar) i couldnt even think of the reason i thought i must be a freak! I also noticed when i tried to be healthy and eat heeeaps of fruit i brokeout all over my forehead in itchy red lumps that wouldnt go away.

Eventually i tried a candida diet for two months, really strict and my acne went away. like completely, not even any red marks which is crazy. I looked up the kind of acne that you get when you have candida and it said lots of tiny lumps or very small whiteheads and some under the skin that are very sore (my life story!) and a rash like textured to the skin (what i thought was "red marks")

Around the two month mark thoguh i had a very tough time emotionally after a bad situation and started leaning towards my bad foods again. cookies, rice, takeaways etc.. and it all came back, probably even worse. then in september i started the Paleo diet. full force, no carbs, just meat, eggs and veges. again the acne went away and i noticed i could even eat dairy and my face got better. ( plain no sugar yogurt, which they say kills CANDIDA?)

Does this all seem like a coincindence? and that maybe it was just the diet and not candida? its just that if i stray a bit i break out and it annoys the hell outta me. if i do have it how can i make it go FOR GOOD?! i dont want to be yo-yoing through life, its so exhausting!

Need help cleansing?? Advice?

26 November 2010 - 03:17 AM

Basically i had a reeeal crappy diet for all of my life right through to when i got severe acne at 12/13 now im 15 and ive gotten clear in may from anti-candida and clear from paleo in september-ish but now a few months later i started to introduce rice, tomatoes etc again and now im breaking out like just before. I have no problem going back to that diet because i love being clear so much but i dont really wanna stick to it FOREVER, so i was thinking if i could cleanse my body in someway it might let me have a little slack with my diet. i will never ever go back to my old diet of junk food, high dairy/sugar etc but i would like to be able to eat a little brown rice or fruit without breaking out straight away. I dont really no i f i can get expensive herbs or supplements watever because like i said im only fifteen and i only have my mum who cant really pay for heaps of health shop expensive stuff. Any advice?

YUM guilt free cake!

22 November 2010 - 05:06 PM

Last night i cleaning out the pantry out of shere boredom and starting throwing together a cake recipe. I thought it would turn out horrible because its not your typical "cake" ingredients but it actually turned out pretty dam yum so i thought i might share. It does have like 4 ish eggs so if there a problem for you i dont know what you'd do..  eusa_think.gif but anyway here it is:
( I'm trying to remember this, because it was kinda spare of the moment, hehe )

Cake:
1 cup buckwheat flour
2 free range eggs
About half a cup of EVOO (or until a sticky sort of mixture, you should be able to judge it )
Juice of two medium lemons
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon fresh ginger
1 teaspoon natural banana essence
1 tablespoon gluten free baking powder
Liquid stevia to taste

Bake at about 200 until brown on top and a knife comes out clean when put through it. wink.gif

"Icing":
I've posted this before on my diet/holistic log as a filling for a really yum cheesecake but i tried it as an "icing" for the cake when it was cool and it made it that much better.

2 free range eggs
juice of large lemon
liquid stevia to taste

Combine the juice and stevia in a pan until they start to bubble and get hot and then slowly add whisked eggs and stir continiously until it makes a sort of custard consistency. Be careful not leave too long otherwise it goes kinda lumpy and grose.

Add the mixture on top of the cool cake and top with coconut etc whatever you want. At first i wasn't too sure on this recipe but i left it in the fridge overnight and had it for breakfast this morning.

The emotional reasoning behind acne.. kinda interesting

21 November 2010 - 01:32 AM

I know not everyone believes in this stuff but whatever, i do. my mum is always going on about how the things in your life can turn into illnesses. i looked up acne in her book of Emotional healing for physical ailments:

Acne
Not accepting or disliking of self

Pimples/ Blackheads

Small outbursts of anger

I find the last one kind of funny because my skin has been like perfect then me and mum had a massive fight last night and i woke up with a pimple. maybe a load of crap but i was just wondering what you guys think?

Breaking down the exact cause of my acne, completely natural approach to 100% clear

19 November 2010 - 05:51 PM

*This has been edited now that my skin is fastly healing. If you want to ask questions you can here but i only check it every few days*

I'm one of those people who will never say "diet has nothing to do with acne" in my opinion it has everything to do with acne, i mean how can it not? So i've had amazing results with anti candida, paleo etc type diets but none of them have got me completely clear. i know this may be impossible but *fingers crossed* with trial and error of different foods, and an improved exercise regime ( i never exercised on the other diets, hehe my bad  redface.gif ) i can get back to how my skin used to be before my diet went to crap and i became reeeally lazy, haha.

What i wont be eating: - Red meat (really acidic? makes me feel pretty crappy tbh)
- Gluten ( a few weeks ago i convinced myself this was all in my head and ate bread for the first time in about a year. BIG MISTAKE.
- Soy
- Dairy
- Refined Sugar
- Anything "white" potatoes, white rice etc
- Anything overly salty bacon etc
- Really acid forming foods ( vinegar, lots of meat etc)

My basic meal plan for each day
Breakfast: 3 free range eggs
Handful of natural almonds
3 T of ground linseed
Maybe some sweet potato
15mg Zinc

In between: Try to drink as much water as possible until one hour before lunch

Lunch: Beans with chicken/turkey and lots of garlic, spices, herbs, tomatoes, onions etc in a big pot. Served with quinoa or on its own.

In between: same as above

Dinner: Light serving of some kind of protein and green vegetables

I also eat snacks like tuna and avocado, carrot sticks, etc
Drink detoxifying herbal teas and chi'i mineral water throughout the day.

What i have used on my face in the past:Garnier pure range
Garnier active naturals range
Aveeno positively radiant cleanser
Aloe Vera
Ice
Manuka Honey
Nimue actives range
Clean and clear pimple control kit
Nuetrogena Oil free acne wash
Dermalogica...
The list goes on. None of those worked for me

What i now use on my face and most importantly what works:
Use oriental sulphur soap twice a day
Lemon juice for scars

Mary Kay ivory concealer and mineral powder (never broken me out)

The biggest mistake i've made lately is that once i was clear i got excited and added back like 200000 things at once, haha. so maybe i'll have to control myself this time. i have a feeling there is something really random that i have a bad allergy to because i go from weeks of pretty much clear to like crazy breakouts and i always forget things that i have eaten lately, so HOPEFULLY this, writing down my diet etc will help with that!

EDIT: 18/12/10

I've realised now after like a month or whatever of playing around what really breaks me out. These are tomatoes, too much meat, brown rice (or really high carbs) and aveeno positively radiant cleanser.

The things they make me completely clear are soaked red kidney beans, nuts, bit of quinoa, veggies, a little chicken and plenty of herbs. Also the liver cleanse and zinc worked wonders, i saw results in just a few days!
