#3360913 Very Sensitive Skin...finally Got It Right

Posted by Maximus Decimus Merideous on 23 June 2013 - 01:17 PM

My skin breaks out extremely easily, and I have been trying to figure out the best way to shave my face for a long time. My face is acne free from my topical regimen, and one of the only times I break out is after I shave. It's usually not bad; just one, two, or three annoying little whiteheads, but it pissed me off like no other!  After years of experimenting, I finally got it down where I don't break out after I shave. Here is what I do:

You have to get a QUALITY electric razor. I got mine on Amazon for 120 dollars, but it was down from 200 dollars. I use Pansonic ES8243A....worth the investment.  I have experimented with all types of traditional razors, even the one Dan recommends, but they all cause major irritation/breakouts.

The Pansonic is a Wet/Dry shaver, and to avoid irritation you have to use it Wet with shaving gel. I recommend Paula's Choice shaving gel, it has no pore clogging ingredients and is extremely light (basically aloe vera gel with some additives).  I get my face wet with luke-warm water, apply a light layer of the gel, and then just shave!  I hop in the shower after, wash my face properly with cleanser, and voila, all done and break-out free. Definitely worth a shot for those with picky skin :)

#3292014 Under Skin Neck Acne

cortisone shot at your dermatologist's office

That is probably the quickest fix.  Though it won't prevent it.  Mild exfoliation could help prevent (BHA or AHA)

#3287957 How Much Bp If You Have Neck Acne Too?

Posted by Maximus Decimus Merideous on 19 September 2012 - 08:19 AM

I am about 5 1/2 weeks into the regimen and I use a generous finger length of BP all over my face, and neck, twice per day. Should I be using more since I use it on my neck too? It's my most problemic spot too..I typically have a least 3-4 zits on eat size on my neck a week.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Go to the very top of the page, scroll over "acne info".  Then at the very bottom it says "more info", scroll over that.  One of the last items says "neck acne", click on it.

But the short answer: Yes.  2 full pumps for face, and then maybe another whole pump for your neck, depending on the size of the area you put it on.  If you only use a small area on your neck you can do 1/2 a pump probably.  If it doesn't start clearing up in a month up the dosage, if it gets really irritated, lower the dosage until you can handle more

#3287947 Does The Regimen Ever "complete" A Cycle Or Do You Have To Permanentl...

Posted by Maximus Decimus Merideous on 19 September 2012 - 07:31 AM

Hi everyone!
I'm sorry if the title is confusing, hopefully I can clear that up. So I've been battling acne for a long time and since my parents rejected my request to get me Accutane, I am going to use the Regimen. I just wanted to know that is it something you have to use until your acne clears up and never use it again, or is it something that you'll have to permanently use and your acne will come back as soon as you stop?
At this point I don't mind even if I have to use it everyday for years, as long as it clears me up.

Hi there!  Yeah you have to use it until your body stops naturally producing acne.   Hey, for the sake of efficiency, there is literally another post asking the exact same question RIGHT before this post lol.    You're more than welcome to ask anything you want here at Acne.org, people here are super helpful, but sometimes it's a good idea to take a quick glance at the other posts or do a quick search for your topic Posted Image

#3287383 Swollen Around Mouth

Posted by Maximus Decimus Merideous on 17 September 2012 - 09:14 AM

If you were allergic you wouldnt have to ask lol.  Your skin would be F-ed up.

Anyways, the same thing happened to me a while back, my eyes got  puffy and swollen and it scared the hell out of me.  I was not allergic, my skin was just a little too dry and was reacting weird.  You are probably using too much BP too soon.  I would stop using BP for a day or two until the swollen areas go down.  Once your skin is normal, you can use BP again but make sure to use less!  I'm not sure how much you are using right now, but you have to start SMALL.  Since youre only on the third day use very little, and build up the amount slowly (maybe 1/4 of a pump every week)

#3278335 Jojoba Oil=Break Out???

Posted by Maximus Decimus Merideous on 19 August 2012 - 12:12 PM

ive been reading a lot about the jojoba oil breaking out people's skin and it scared me A LOT. i was about to buy it but now i dont want too. just a few minutes ago my co-worker told me she used Aveeno's sensitive skin lotion. im pretty sure its the blue bottle. i use Aveeno and it helps me a lot except im using the green bottle which is for daily moistieruzing. but im going to get the blue one. it works, so forget about the Jojoba oil lol

Ive been into researching skin care for a longggg time now, and i'll tell you what...

EVERYTHING breaks people out.  There is not a single product out there that will work for everybody.  The criteria I use to buy products now is:

A.  Does the product empirically (scientifically) break you out/clog your pores

B.  Does it work for the majority of people

Now, I don't know what you have read, but reviews on this site and on makeupalley (another product review site) and all over the internet are very positive for jojoba oil...it rarely breaks people out.  Do some google searches for it also, you'll see that it often helps preventing acne as opposed to causing now.

In my own personal experience, I have skin that is very sensitive to products, and I can slather on jojoba oil without it breaking me out.

So, can it break you out?  Yes.  Will it break you out?  Probably not...  It makes my skin glow and I love it

#3276141 Would You Recommend Benzoyl Peroxide On Non-Inflamed Acne?

It does a whole lot more than just kill bacteria, including unclog pores

#3268231 How Long Between Stopping Regimen And Restarting?

Posted by Maximus Decimus Merideous on 22 July 2012 - 10:35 AM

Good question...

It depends on how bad his dryness is.  If it is unbearable then he should stop using benzoyl peroxide for 2 or 3 days (but continue to moisturize as much as he wants).

If the dryness/irritation is bad but not terrible he should just start the regimen over as the lowest dose without waiting.  He should obviously take it very slow, even though it sounds like he has been using BP for a while.

#3254987 Why Wait 10 Hours Between Treatments?

Posted by Maximus Decimus Merideous on 13 June 2012 - 09:59 AM

*Moderator edit - Removed reference to a removed post*

Anyways to answer your question inspirit, I believe the regimen page states to wait about 12 hours.  The reason is simple, because after about 12 hours (half a day) BP starts losing it's effectiveness.  In order to keep 100% effective BP on you have to change it after 12 hours.  On the other end of the spectrum, if you apply the regimen too early (only wait 4 or 5 hours) you may cause irritation from washing/touching your face too close together.  the 10-12 hours is really more of a guideline...if you can not always wait 10 hours it's okay to wait 7 or 8, just try really hard to get the 10 (like I said, you want to let your face relax a little before the next washing and applying of BP).  Maybe you can wake up a little earlier?  Anyways, if you REALLY can't wait 10 hours, just do what you can do.  As long as you follow the guidelines im sure it won't make much of a difference.

On another note, don't ever do the regimen 3x daily.

Hey! Great idea.  How long does the green tea/sea salt mixture last in your fridge? Or do you make it fresh everyday?

#3252285 Help! No Effect?

Posted by Maximus Decimus Merideous on 05 June 2012 - 02:53 PM

Struggling 123, 4 weeks is nothing for some people.  You really have to be patient...as in 8, 12, even 16 weeks.  Sooo many people here take at least 2 months to start seeing great results.  Just keep at it!

Also, be excited that you arent experiencing peeling or any of the dryness, if you are using the full amoung of BP and good moisurizers then youll clear up.

As Asaha3 mentioned, supplementing with healthy stuff can never hurt

This is definitely the wrong place to post that...this is for acne.org regimen specifically.  Post it in mild to moderate acne forums.

#3234193 For People With Anxiety

Posted by Maximus Decimus Merideous on 13 April 2012 - 05:19 PM

Hi fellow anxiety-ers Posted Image

I just need to share this website (more like a blog) with you guys.  It is the best, most practical and helpful thing I have ever read about anxiety.  I used to get a lot of panic attacks and what not, but this really helped me.  I swear this isn't an advertisement or anything (the blog is 100% free), just check it out.  I know it doesn't have anything directly to do with acne, but acne definitely can cause anxiety, and this really helps.

It's just panicend.com

Let me know what you think!
