#3343623 Less Judgement, Please...

Posted by Lady_C on 27 April 2013 - 01:41 AM

I think everybody knows that diet attributes to acne, poor eating habits can cause hormones to flucatuate, which can worsen acne. However, those food habits only worsen acne and I don't beleive it is the root cause of acne for most people. I've tried various adaptions and omissions and my skin has been clear at both points (eating healthy and eating healthy with abit of refined food). I don't know what the cause is of my acne, but I have noticed that my acne has worsened with age. I'm currently invesitigating hormonal treatments, as I have a strong feeling that my hormones are unbalanced. In the meantime, I will as always continue to maintain a healthy lifestyle for the sake of longevity/well-being more so than acne.

#3323517 Lol You Know What's Really Discouraging?

1. When I meet homeless people with dirt and dust all in their hair and face and it's obvious they haven't touched a bar of soup in years, yet they still have better skin than me. Like, I will gladly make a trade off where I'm homeless and have to live in my car for a few months if it I get rewarded by never having acne ever again lol.

2. When during the breaks, you catch up with old friends that had bad acne last time you saw them and now their skin is flawless and you still have the same ol' acne.

Getting real tired of your shit, acne.

I have a point, I remember when I was a student at university. We had a lot of homeless people surrounding our campus, because the building weren't too far from the town centre. Sometimes they would ask for "spare change" as unkempt as they looked, they never had a pimple let alone acne.

I've had countless situations when I've seen somebody either online or in the street who used to have bad acne only to now have flawless skin. It evokes a feeling of shame and guilt I wonder how they managed to supercede me. I feel like I'm the last one standing, acne is an exhausting battle.

#3303425 Do You Ever Notice People Staring At Your Acne?

Posted by Lady_C on 18 November 2012 - 08:25 AM

The more superfical society becomes, the more fixated people become with their outer appearence. I've had people stare at my skin and make comments. My acne used to be extremely bad when I was 12 up until say..erm..... 22 ish. It got to the point where it was unsual for people to not stare or make a comment. Of course, my experience made me completely self-conscious and anti social I still am to a certain degree. Nowadays, I don't really get as many stares/comments, maybe a side glance but that could be for a number of reasons. I usually style my hair in a way that covers my flaws. Some people are just SO rude, why do people think it's acceptable to say such vile things about our acne?

#3303418 Anyone Lost Their Girlfriend/boyfriend Cause Of Acne?

I've pushed a few people away because of acne/insecurities. I tend not to put myself in a situation where I may potentially be interested in the opposite sex. My moods fluctuate depending on how bad my acne is. A relationship with this type of mindset is a recipe for disaster, though I'm trying to change.

#3299951 How Do You Feel When You See Others With Acne?

I definitely feel a sense of kinship to them and I'm guilty of comparing my skin to their's. I also observe their personality, are they outgoing or embarrassed about their acne? that's the sort of thing that goes through my mind.

#3299825 Why Do I Never See Anyone With Body Acne?

Posted by Lady_C on 03 November 2012 - 02:02 PM

I think body acne is more common than one may think. I think it depends on where in the world you live i.e colder climate, less skin exposure and warmer climate, more skin exposure. Whenever it's "warm" in the UK I always see people with body acne, that and other skin disorders like psoriasis. Also, when I travel to a hot climate again, I see people wearing skimpy clothing with body acne. I have persistant body acne and I always where shirts that cover my back/chest regardless of the weather.
