hi! my dermatologist had prescribed me zevit capsules which has vit b complex + vit c and zinc suphate. (i could add exact measures if needed) for 6 weeks. after 6 weeks,i'd continued it for 10 more days. i was wondering if i should continue taking it? if yes, then for how long? do u have any idea why just 6 weeks? someone told me that vit capsules shouldn't be taken for too long...but i've never read anything like that on acne.org. am not sure..a lil' confused actually...

Yes. It sounds like a good dermatologist. What country are you in? It took a B-complex with Zinc and C before I tried diet changes. I think it did a lot of good. I believe it made my skin a lot less oily and I rarely had any inflamed acne on my face.

I think it's so great you started a blog. :) All that knowledge on your own medium is really good to see.

Thanks. I need to keep it up and promote it. But it's so much easier to post here. Posts don't need to be so perfect or complete.

It's also not about the knowledge. I don't really know that stuff. I just found it and wrote it down. But it's a lot of time wasted when I should have been doing other things. It would be nice if I could make a living at it. I wish they'd let me put a link in my signature. Since that would be a link in every single post I'd ever made, that would make it rank high in google searches. Oh well.

There's a new post in my blog. This time about sleep and the many ways it affects acne. And how to improve yours.

I ate one of those Dove chocolates with the quote or fortune inside the wrapper today. It said I should charge for all my good advice.

THE CHOCOLATE SPEAKS THE TRUTH!
Haha but seriously, your work has been invaluable to my health, I can't believe a year ago I was dealing with things like CFS (since 14 or so?), insomnia, acne, pain everywhere basically, and now I'm pretty much in charge of my health!

Hey, I recently started to eat sweet potatoes. I used to think they looked terrible, but after i saw how healthy they were, i decided to try it out. I love em now. I could seriously live on these things. But anyway, my question is, Do you recommend eating it with or without the potato skin? I do sometimes enjoy eating the skin, like if i microwave it or something.

Also, are eggs ok for acne? Some people seem to say to avoid them at all cost, but i really don't understand why. They arent inflammitory, there low GI, and they have no carbs

Most nutrients are in or just under the skin, on the other hand, so are most pesticides.
Provided you aren't intolerant to them, eggs from free roaming and/or flax fed chickens (ideally both) are good.

Hey i had a quick question. It seems you are in favor of brown rice, but is too much brown rice bad? I LOVE brown rice so i tend to eat quite a bit of it. Id say i eat about 2 cups of it a day. I can literally eat brown rice with anything. So you think thats too much? If so, how much would you recommend eating per day? Cause I love it!

Only if you are eating it at the expense of plenty of more nutrient dense foods.
However, if you have any digestion issues, lots of allergies, prone to illness etc. you might want to try avoiding all grains for a period to test for intolerance. While not containing gluten, it does contain another lectin that can cause similar damage. And many people have tried avoiding gluten with no results until they avoided all grains.

Bahh, I really liked a post you made about how people see food/lifestyle habits, how some people can't see it as just eating/living healthy, but some specific (often fad) diet. Can't seem to find what thread it's in, so I thought I'd post a comment and say thanks instead. Really changed my perspective on the whole matter!

Sorry to hear about your mom Vista, my mom's kinda in the same boat as far as accumulating many health problems but not really making the changes she needs, especially being a diabetic.

The problem is that my mother always was healthy and a very active person. The only thing she could really change is her diet which is nowhere near as good as she thinks. And a few things to reduce stress.
But on the nutrition side, the doctors and nurses caring for her are of no use. They don't see anything wrong with drinking coke and McDonald's. The food they serve in the hospital is ridiculously inadequate in nutrition. She's given synthetic nutrients in 'food...
