In Topic: Can People Recommend A Salicylic Acid "treatment"?

07 February 2014 - 03:35 PM

I'm not really aware of any salicylic acid "treatments."

From the research that I've done, SA is best applied in a moisturizer in combination with 2.5% BP and left on overnight.

I would personally recommend the neutrogena oil free acne stress control 3 in 1 hydrating acne cream treatment. I use it in combination with the acne.org regimen. Every other night I alternative between SA and glycolic acid (AHA) and have been getting great results in terms of fading old scars/red marks.

Good luck.

Go for it! AHA is a great way to treat the flakiness and it is also a a moisturizer, so you can start by trying out 1/2 AHA with 1/2 moisturizer and then work your way up to full AHA applications

I also haven't had much success spot treating with AHA. I'm now trying 2.0% salicylic acid with 10% BP as a spot treatment, seems to work better than Dan's 2.5% BP and 10% AHA.

(Supposedly salicylic acid is oil soluble and the molecules are bigger, so they stay at the pimple to help unclog it and lets the BP absorb better).
