I have noticed over the years my face has increasingly become darker than my neck and body. It could be from years of attempting to correct my hyperpigmentation with exfoliants, over exfoliating and occasionally hydroquinone. 


My question is, has anyone with brown skin had this issue? What did you do/use to even out your skin tone? Please no HQ eusa_wall.gif


brown skinned woman here. i have a bit of hyperpigmentation as well. i don't really do much to it though. i've read about manjistha being good to use for evening out ones skin tone, yet i have yet to try that.

this is what i did to reduce my previously angry acne...



researched whole food ways to nourish myself


was a plant-based eater for 4 years - during that time i completed a few raw food cleanses with herbs that were meant to cleanse and support various organs


re-introduced animal based foods that are wild | organic | pasture-raised (salmon, eggs, sardines, tuna, ghee)


began to enjoy nude sunbathing to assist my low d levels


made self-pleasure more of a focus


stopped using soap on my face and switched to chickpea flour mixed with clay


use low comedogenic rated oils on my hair and skin


saw myself as lovely regardless of what my skin was doing because i am


began to engage in weekly movement of some kind (belly dance, african dance, or weight lifting)

interesting. i know of one woman who runs a skin care site who healed her acne by eating mostly raw vegan. if you're interested in the site, feel free to message me.


i used to do raw vegan cleanses yearly and that always made my skin look nice. i am not interested in doing raw or vegan for long periods of time though, so that is not an option for me. yet, i can say that eating in that way can assist one with healing their skin.

i didn't stay with the oil cleansing method for too long when i experimented with it.


yet, i think if folks are looking into this type of cleansing method, they may want to go with the oils that are low on the comedogenic rating scale. coconut oil is listed as 4 (fairly high), which means its something that would definitely cause breakouts for those who are prone to them.

yes, yes. i purchased organic grapeseed oil after reading about how great it was for skin. i use it after i cleanse and tone. it works well for me.

yes, yes. a few weeks ago i ate musaka with pita bread. well, i don't eat bread often and when i do, it's the brown rice and millet based bread.


well, the following day i felt a bit clogged up. i figured it was the bread. and constipation doesn't produce lovely skin. lol. so, yes, i feel you with this one. it's empowering to know what does and does not work for you, especially when dealing with ones skin.
