#3451467 Spiro...my Last Hope

Posted by tracy521 on 10 September 2014 - 01:35 PM

yeah i can see being scared for sure about the tinnitus with the keflex. the only thing i can say is to try it and see how it goes. yeah mine went away it lasted i think for at least 5 years or so. the doctor said it would probably never go away too but thank god it did. it never really bothered me except for when i would go to sleep but many times i would just put on my ceiling fan and that would drown out the noise.

i sure hope spiro can help you since you have been through so much. you deserve to have something go your way for once. keep me posted on your progess and try to hang in there!

good luck to you! i think the spiro will work so well for you but i think you need at least 100mg a day for it to really work. i tried everything myself and had cystic acne on and off for years and am 37 now and spiro is the only thing that has 100% worked for me over the long term. this dec will be 2 years on it and it has really saved my life. i no longer have to worry about what will be popping on my face everyday and my anxiety levels are slowly going down even though i am still trying to fix my scarring. i've had no side effects at all so i think you will be fine. i was so nervous too and put it off for a few years but everything has been fine with me. also just to note a lot of people have had normal hormone levels and still have hormonal acne and take spiro. good luck to you!
i would get on a good quality antibiotic though when you start just to avoid any bad breakouts.

i use proactiv toner it works really well and is cheap. i get it on ebay for like $8 for a decent size bottle. i do think witch hazel toner works is good stuff but the proactiv toner might work better for you. it does have witch hazel in it as well and is pretty gentle on the skin. i only use it once a day but you can use it twice a day but beware it will dry out your skin unless you are using a good moisturizer. omg yeah i dont think derms really know that much either every derm i have had has always put me on retinoids and my skin cant tolerate them no matter how long i use them for. last time i tried retin-a i got a bad cystic breakout on my chin and the derm was like well yeah retin-a and all retninoids have the ability to make those clogged pores turn into cysts for some people so after that i was beyond done with that stuff. i just use the toner once a day and spot treat with bp and thats it. i think sometimes less is more when it comes to that stuff but if you try the toner and like it then you can always try the lotion on this site it has 10% glycolic acid vs 6% in the toner.

yeah it really is a struggle because it really gets you down on yourself. i lost so much weight last year i was so upset and just was so damn depressed. nobody understands it unless they have gone through it themselves ya know? its like after a while you are just done dealing with it. yeah call around and see if you can get those cysts injected. what i did last year when my derm was booked i would call every derm in the area until one could fit me in. also some medical spas do injections as well so cant hurt to exhaust every option. those ones near the mouth are a bitch they hurt so damn bad! i was living off aleve just for the pain i can feel you on that. try icing them and take some aleve or ibuprofen today that should help a bit with the swelling and inflammation.

take care of yourself and just keep hanging in there but yeah i would ditch that tazorac like stat!

taking 2 aleve twice a day and then putting AHA and then BP over cysts seems to work pretty well. i would ice them too that helps a lot.

seriously though i know you said you have been on tazorac for a while but were you breaking out on it before starting spiro? i would seriously consider switching to AHA because it works very well and most people do really well on it. it will also help with any red marks too so its a like a double bonus. the tazorac is probably chewing up your skin!

#3447395 Brown Mark On Chin, Please Help

Posted by tracy521 on 15 August 2014 - 07:48 AM

i can barely see those spots at all and a good concealer would cover those right up. its nothing to worry about but it could take months for the mark to go away. you can do ipl to get rid of the spot a lot quicker but it will cost you at least $125 or more for a spot treatment (they zap between 10-15 spots)

Good luck!! Also they can give you prednisone to just calm everything down but i would try the keflex first.

No you wont have an ib with keflex at all it works for most everybody. Its good to get on it now and then wean off around 6-9 months when the spiro has kicked in. I am still on spiro now and it has been the best thing ever and i am still totally clear. You got nothing to lose so i would get on the keflex stat!

i dont have much input for you but just to say you are gorgeous! seriously even though you have those scars it doesnt change how beautiful you are at all. you could look into subcision but you have to be careful of having it done too aggressively and being left with raised scarring but i dont think it could hurt to ask about filler first to see how that goes before you do anything drastic. there are some fillers out there that you can have removed if you dont like it so its a much safer option. good luck to you!

#3440784 Ipl For Red Mark/hyperpigmentation?

Posted by tracy521 on 11 July 2014 - 07:21 AM

you can do v-beam for redness and there is something called the medlite laser they are doing now but those are both lasers and ipl is not laser so safer in my opinion. you can also get tca chemical peels done too but you would need a series of them and the downtime is a hassle because it can take a week for the peeling to completely be done. the only reason i ever get ipl is because its easy and fast and i can go right back to work (i just put makeup on the spots that were zapped) and then each day the red marks will lighten so really there is no downtime. now when they zap my brown spots those will scab up and get very dark and then in 4-5 days they will fall off but its nothing i cant cover up with makeup.

#3440167 Lactic/glycolic Peel Help!

Posted by tracy521 on 08 July 2014 - 02:27 PM

yeah it will go away with time i am sure your skin will be peeling in the next few days. i would just put moisturizer on it and leave it alone. aquaphor is good as well and when i had any hyperpigmentation from a peel the place i used to go to get them would give me apres soothing balm to calm down the skin. you can probably find it on ebay or amazon. good luck to you and dont do another peel for a while i would give your skin a break for at least a month.

look into spiro and then try an AHA daily that should help you out.

#3439875 Ipl For Red Mark/hyperpigmentation?

Posted by tracy521 on 07 July 2014 - 07:52 AM

i have had IPL's done for years they work very well but you need to have multiple passes done on each mark to get great results. it is the only thing that works on my red and brown marks and broken capillaries i recommend it highly! the place i go to does a spot treatment for like $120 so its not too bad of a deal and they can do them 1 month apart. for bad red marks it takes a few sessions for me to get rid of them. good luck and do your research and get a test spot done if you are unsure about it.

Posted by tracy521 on 27 June 2014 - 07:35 AM

yeah when my cystic acne was at its worst topicals did nothing for me the only thing that cleared me up right away was keflex and then spiro once it kicked in. i now use a glycolic acid toner daily but thats it for my regimen. let me know what the derm says.
