Are You Hesitant On Getting A Cortisone Shot?

08 July 2014 - 05:49 PM

I had a huge cyst on my forehead, lingering on my face for 2 weeks, with no looks of it going down. It literally felt like a marble under my skin how deep it was, although only slightly raised and easily covered with makeup. I leave on vacation this weekend. I decided to call my derm and get a cortisone shot today. She drained it first, she poked the needle sooo deep I literally felt it go through multiple layers of skin, and right when she took the needle out, pus came gushing out. She said "thank goodness you came! it's unbelievable how much pus was in there!!" and proceeded to shoot it with cortisone. It's not about… 4 hours since I got the shot, and the cyst is 100% flat, no atrophy or anything, just a dark mark. It's so crazy how much relief you can get from a simple cortisone shot. So if anyone has had a cyst or nodule lingering on their face for 2 weeks+, I highly highly recommend getting a cortisone shot!!! I'm so happy I did.

Week 20 - Break Out!

19 June 2014 - 09:59 PM

My skin was perfectly clear about 3 days ago.. now I've suddenly broken out with 2 nodules and 3-4 smaller zits.. What's the deal? I haven't changed anything and have been sticking to the regimen to the T. :( Any ideas anyone?

Finally Starting The Regimen

22 January 2014 - 08:44 PM

Hi everyone,

So I've finally decided to give the regimen a shot. This is my last straw. I have tried OTC treatments (neutrogena, OXY, proactiv, etc), natural remedies (ACV, honey, etc), oral prescriptions (minocycline) and topical prescriptions (retin-a, differing, clindamycin, clindoxyl) - if this doesn't work, I will be going on Accutane. I have been struggling with acne since I was 12 years old and I will be graduating university in June… far, far too long (which probed me to order Dan's BP - I really want clear skin for my graduation!!) My acne is hormonal - I usually have 3-5 PAINFUL nodules at a time before or during my cycle, which take weeks to leave. I very rarely breakout with non-inflammatory acne. This will be my regimen log, so I can document any progress I experience.

One question I have is:

Would I be able to use Retin-A at night, and BP during mornings? The Retin-A is beneficial for anti-aging and helps fade away my scars, so I would like to keep using it if possible.

Thanks in advance, and wish me luck :)

Spironolactone Candidate?

07 January 2014 - 12:05 AM

Hi everyone!

So I've been struggling with acne for 10 years now (since I was 12), and my acne always gets worse before my cycle so I believe my acne is hormonal. I've read a lot of good things about Spiro, so I'm wondering how would I know if I'm a good candidate ?

Does Bp Lose Its Effect?

08 August 2013 - 03:24 PM

Hi all, I've been reading these forums for quite some time now trying to decide whether or not to give the Regimen a shot or to go back to my derm and dreadfully ask for accutane. I've been using Retin-A and Clindoxyl gel (1% clindamycin and 5% BP) for around 3 years which had been working well for me, but these past 3-4 months my skin has taken a turn for the worst. I was fairly clear (never 100%) for about a year and a half but now my acne has gotten to the point where I don't want to leave the house (5-6 cysts, some raised, some under the skin - all PAINFUL)... there is not one moment where I don't have a deep cyst on my face... constant breaking out :(. Has my skin just become immune to the topicals?... I guess what I really want to know is:

Will the 2.5% BP used in the regimen even have an effect on my skin, when I've been using a topical that contains 5% BP for nearly 3 years?
