#3441433 Post Pregnancy Acne

Posted by Tban0117 on 15 July 2014 - 04:57 AM

Hello! Congratulations on your baby! Sorry you're dealing with acne. How was your skin during pregnancy and before pregnancy? Our hormones get very out of whack after delivery. Even a few months afterwards. Are you breastfeeding? If not, are you using any medications? I also had a baby 8 months ago. I use the regimen and used it while pregnant. I think it's one thing that helps keep my acne away. I'm also breastfeeding. I still breakout quite a bit only when my period comes. I have the painful red, medium in size papules. This last cycle I don't know if it was the new makeup I tried (face broke out the day after I began using it) but I ended up with 6 effin zits. I know I'm getting one when I get an itchy sensation in the area. Anyway, I'm an esthetician and am very in to skin care, especially hormonal and pregnant women. I know the feeling. I've been through it all. Hope to chat with you. Keep your head up Hun.

#3373389 Getting Pregnant - What Can I Do For My Hormonal Acne?

Posted by Tban0117 on 09 August 2013 - 11:42 PM

Than its good to hear you stayed pretty clear in your second pregnancy. I have scarring from my first pregnancy I am now trying to deal with. I am also trying to come to terms with my daughter being an only child because I cannot go through that again. I am very heartbroken about this. Just another thing acne and scarring has taken from me.

Yea thank god my skin is clear as hell for the most part. I was terrified of getting pregnant again and thought for a few years after my son was born that he may just be an only child. In my heart I was like yea right! I took my chances and was prepared for the worst and I'm glad I took the chance. I believe being off of birth control is the #1 reason it's stayed clear. There weren't any synthetic hormones in my body for about 6 years. Again, we are all different though. I have minor scars too... I'll never have the skin I had Pre marriage and motherhood but it's looking awesome now and I can't complain. I have my boys to look forward to... I hope you find something that helps you. I totally feel your pain and your fear. Good luck with everything. Don't hesitate to inbox me if you ever have questions

#3368453 Spironolactone For Post Pregnancy Acne & Melasma

Posted by Tban0117 on 23 July 2013 - 05:13 AM

Oh hell yes! Totally happened to me for the first time in my life in 2008 3 weeks after I had my son. My acne was so severe during pregnancy that I wanted whatever that was left over afterwards to clear up fast. So my derm gave me  spiro. It actually is a great drug for numerous things, but in some cases like ours, it causes melasma. I had the hitler moustache and one circle under each eye. I used hydroquinone and it cleared up in days but it wasn't too dark to begin with. Just ugly as hell. Now I really just have to use sunblock and avoid the sun being on my face. Well good luck with you and feel free to ask me any questions!

#3366425 Yasmin Cleared Me Right Up

Posted by Tban0117 on 14 July 2013 - 08:11 PM

Hi! Yea I got of in January and was fine until I got pregnant in march. It started very slowly, with blackheads and clogged pores. Then in to my 14-15th week bye bye "decent" pregnancy skin. It exploded with papules and pustules at that point. Was the worst during 6-7.5 months and calmed down but never went away until I delivered. Even after delivery I dealt with it until he was 2. But yes, unfortunately there are things that aren't so pretty that happen to us during pregnancy :-( but in the end you have that beautiful life you carried for 9 months in your arms... You can always get on Yasmin after delivery IF it even happens to you. Doesn't happen to everyone. I was one of the unlucky ones I guess. And yes, it helps with oily skin tremendously! I'm always an oil slick since being off the pill. I might get back on when I deliver but I don't know if I'm done having kids. I said I was but I feel unsure lol...
Good luck in whatever you decide

#3364914 Implanon Gave Me Acne, Now Pregnancy

Posted by Tban0117 on 08 July 2013 - 07:43 PM

Awww, I'm so sorry you have to deal with this at such a special time in your life. I too am pregnant. I'm 5 1/2 months and feared getting acne because of the experience I had with my first son.
I was on Yasmin for 7-9 years and got off thinking is be ok but I went from flawless to battle field. I know what you're going through. Now that I'm more than half way in my pregnancy, I am beginning to get yucky breakouts and FEAR looking like I did in the past.
Honestly though, Ive thought about it since I had my son and researched so much. I am also now an esthetician and feel so much more prepared. I'm praying like crazy but I don't know what will happen.  If you have ANY questions regarding skin care during your pregnancy or anything, inbox me. I became an esthetician because I want to help people like us. I know how it feels and it makes me sad to know people get sick and depressed because of it.
For now, I will tell you to use a very gentle cleanser. Don't over dry your skin out because you are already producing mega oil and over drying will cause havoc. Try using something with lactic acid in it. I personally use Rhonda Allison skin care line from my esthetician. Love em...
Second don't scrub/over exfoliate. It spreads more bacteria and that will cause more acne. I you pick your pimples, that will spread bacteria as well and cause more acne.
I'm not really in to toning much so I go right to moisturizing with hyaluronic acid serum and I finish of with sunblock.
You can exfoliate 2-3 times a week depending on how bad your skin is. As far as products you can and can't use, I can give you so many but I'd definitely tell you to check with your OB before anything.
I hope you find some hope in my message. You are creating a beautiful life in your tummy and no matter how you think you look, you are beautiful. Don't let this get you down. Easier said than done, I know. As I can't seem to take my own advice but it's the truth. Enjoy your pregnancy mamma!!!
