Roots 100% Pure Aloe Vera Gel (Without Chemicals And Additives)

27 July 2013 - 03:10 PM

Has anybody tried the Roots aloe vera brand? Supposedly it is organic 100% aloe vera with no chemicals or additives. That explains why it needs to be refrigerated. I am thinking about getting this in the hope that it will help my acne. red marks, and inflamed skin. Opinions?

(Picture) Red Mottled Skin Covered In Blackheads And Pimples

26 July 2013 - 02:00 PM

Hello. I have decided to post a picture of my condition, as hard as this is for me to post this. I am desperate and at the breaking point. I need advice so badly. I have suffered with acne since I was 12 and I am now 21. I am in tears right now because I was trying to clear up in time for college, and now I only have 2 weeks left until the semester starts. I have been eating very healthy for years, and a few months ago I completely cut out gluten, sugar, dairy, and all processed foods. Basically I am following the holistic diet similar to the Tracy at the Love Vitamin. About 2 weeks ago all my pimples had cleared and I was so excited. I did still have my chronic blackhead issue and my red marks/hyperpigmentation, but it was a step in the right direction. A few days ago, I broke out again on my forehead. The picture you see below was taken just a few minutes ago. I thought I was making progress, but now I'm starting to lose hope. *cries* And yes, I've tried all the antibiotics, topicals, etc as well.

As you can see, my big problems are active pimples, chronic blackheads, red marks, and inflammation. I'm an absolute mess. The weird thing though is that I only get this extreme inflammation on my forehead. I do get acne on the rest of my face, but it's not as bad as on my forehead. For some reason, the region between my eyebrows is extremely sensitive and easily prone to inflammation. I have idea what to do with it anymore.

I suspect that if I could get rid of the blackheads up there, then it would definitely help with the amount of pimples up there. I do think a lot of these pimples I get used to be blackheads. The problem is that I am at a loss at how to get rid of the blackheads. I cannot try and extract the blackheads out myself because my skin is very easily prone to damage. I did recently purchase a lactic acid peel and a salicylic acid peel to try and get the blackheads out, however my skin is so sensitive I am worried about making the inflammation worse. And then we have the red marks/blotchy skin which is an issue to tackle... I am just so overwhelmed. If you guys had my skin, where would you start? I am trying to remain positive, but after almost 10 years of this I am starting to lose hope. Please help.

Question On Taking Vit. B 5/pantothenic Acid With B-Complex

12 June 2013 - 12:01 PM

I have decided to supplement with Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) as I have heard this vitamin can dramatically help acne. (I'm starting with 3 grams and will work my way up to 5 grams. Once I am clear, I plan to reduce the dose back down to 3 grams. I understand that in order for Pantothenic Acid to be effective and to prevent deficiency in the other B vitamins, I need to take a B-complex. However I have also read that B-complex is a huge acne trigger??? I am hoping though that that the higher dose of pantothenic acid will compensate for any negative affects the B-complex may have on my acne... I'm not sure what to think. What's your take on this? Anyone know anything about this topic?

Antibiotic Dilemma: Need Advice

12 June 2013 - 08:42 AM

I have been on rounds of different antibiotics pretty consistently for 3 years. They would always keep me clear for about 4 to 6 months before the derm would have to prescribe me a new one. Early this year, I began breaking out again very badly and now I have lots of  post acne marks and hyperpigmentation as well. The antibiotics didn't seem to be helping.

After doing a lot of research, I decided I didn't want to go down the antibiotic route anymore and start supplementing with higher doses of particular vitamins. A week ago, I went to the derm to see if there were any other options besides antibiotics or accutane. He basically insisted that I needed to take a different antibiotic in order to get my acne under control first, and then I could think about weaning off.  So my derm prescribed me Doryx (time-released doxycycline) as well as the topical Tazorac. Though full of doubts and hesitation, I ended up leaving with the prescription and have been taking the Doryx for a week. It's been a week and my acne is much, much worse than it was when I saw the derm. In fact, it's the most severe I have ever had in my life. The acne has spread to places I've never had it in before and is extremely inflamed.

I want to get off the Doryx-- that I am positive of now. My question to you guys is: Should I get off of it now or should I wait until my course is finished? I wanted to ask this question in the holistic/diet section of the forum because I would like advice from a "holistic, health-conscious" point of view. I do regret listening to my derm by taking the Doryx, but now that I've been taking it for a week, would it be bad to just get off it immediately when in the middle of what might be an initial breakout?

p.s. I also am on a colon/parasite cleanse, which I started about 3 weeks ago-- way before I started taking the Doryx.
