#3365768 I'd Just Like To Let Everyone Know What Finally Worked For Me :-)

Posted by Amber Kathleen on 11 July 2013 - 11:21 PM

Well, you guys, I have normal skin now!

I am rather clear with the occasional pimple or two when I slip up and don't wash my face in the morning, or around my time of the month.

I started off just using the regimen, which is what got me pretty clear in the first place.

I wanted a bit better results though, and this is what I ended up with:

2% salicylic acid gel cleanser

Dan's benzoyl peroxide

simple face moisturizer (one with sunscreen during the day, one with no suncreen during the night)

And that's it!

The benzoyl peroxide cleared up my cystic acne (thank God), but I was left with blackheads and small little pimples.

Adding the salicylic acid in made all the difference for me.

May I also add that after I got fairly clear, I reduced my benzoyl peroxide amount. I dab a pea size amount on my cheek, another on my other cheek, and on my forehead. Then about half a pea size on my chin and another on my nose.

I have also noticed, as Dan has said, when I am more gentle with my skin the better looking my skin is. I used to use a 2% salicylic acid SCRUB cleanser. Since I have switched to a 2% salicylic acid GEL cleanser, my skin looks less irritated.

Also, never skip your moisturizer, expecially when using both salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. When I forget to put on my moisturizer, my skin feels a bit raw and dry (never a problem as long as I don't forget though). When I do forget my moisturizer for some reason, the next time I do my regimen I use my Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Night Cream, which I've found out is my skin saver on this regimen when I am feeling raw or dry.

Now, if you are just starting with BP, I DO NOT recommend adding salicylic acid in until you are through with the beginning side effects of the BP. Raw, red, itchy BP face + chemical exfoliator does not equal a fun outcome. I was completely through with my skin being irritated by the BP before adding in my salicylic acid. Trust me, wait. Just start out with the BP and get through with those side effects first.

I wish all of you the best! wink.png

It's been about 5 weeks since starting the regimen, maybe about 2 weeks since starting with Dan's products. My face isn't totally clear yet, and I'm still always having at least 1 active pimple, BUT THEY'RE NOT CYSTIC. I can cover them up with some concealer and run out the door! :-D Its going fairly well. I can deal with my face right now. (Though I am hoping I do clear up all the way.) Loving it so far. I've heard it may take about 12 weeks to really be seeing BP's effects, but I'm seeing it's working pretty darn well right now. Hoping to be REALLY clear sometime in the near future. I will continue updates :-) xx

I know where you're at. I strongly trust my God and love Him to no end, but sometimes it hurts me so much that I get mad at Him and blame Him for this. I've said awful things about Him that I regret.

I believe part of the reason I have acne is for me to be taught to focus more on who I am as a person inside than my outer appearance.
I also believe that I have acne so I can help someone in the future who is going through the struggles I am.
After getting over the angry, bitter parts of it, I am starting to see the good sides to it as well (yes, there are good sides, I promise).

I have spent so much time obsessing over my acne that I have been wasting precious time of my life that I could be doing something amazing.

Acne sucks and it tears your self-esteem down, but even though it feels like it, it doesn't limit what you can do.
You learn to live with it and ignore the people around you who have nothing better to do with their lives than worry about your acne problems.

No, you have acne because of genetics and hormones - not because "God" is trying to teach you how to focus on inner beauty or how to become compassionate. Man oh man are you ever American.

Go ahead and think what you want and I'll do the same. I wasn't specifying this post towards you, I was specifying this post to the person who wrote this and others who are spiritual to possibly help them. If you expect this to offend me, I get this much and I am used to it. I don't judge you for your beliefs and I would appreciate it if you wouldn't judge me for mine. But I will say what I think if I believe it could help another person and someone who wants to try to get in the way of that won't stop me. Thank you.
