Need Opinions: Accutane Or Not?

03 May 2013 - 10:45 PM

I need some opinions: I am 25, I have moderate/severe acne. My derm gave me the option of going on accutane. I decided to think about it, and in the mean time she gave me minocycline and retin-a. I am considering going on accutane, but I have some dilemmas. The obvious one is the side effects, they scare me just thinking about it. The biggest dilemma for me is, I am not going to have insurance come September. I might not be on it till June or July, that's only 2 months that I would have insurance to pay for it. Do I get accutane or not?

First Time At Derm

01 May 2013 - 02:19 PM

I'm 25 and I went to a Dermatologist for the first time 2 days ago because my acne has been out of control lately. She described my acne as moderate to moderate/severe. She prescribed me Tretin-x (retin-a), Minocycline, and benzefoam. She did talk to me about possibly using Accutane, it was totally up to me. I put it off for now, to see how my face reacts to the prescriptions. Anybody use any of these products?

Also if anybody has used benzefoam, I'm confused as to whether I should cleanse my face first then use the foam, or is the foam the cleanser?

Best Coverage Foundation Suggestions

21 April 2013 - 10:09 PM

Hey everyone, I need some suggestions for a new foundation. I've tried drugstore brands like covergirl and Revlon, they're cheap but I think I'm now willing to spend a little more bucks. I have combination skin, more on the oily side, and I'm looking for a full coverage makeup. I have large pores and a lot of scarring and also active acne. I've been looking at Clinique, smashbox, lancome, makeup forever, and Almay. I've heard a lot of people using almay. I need some suggestions on a foundation and not a concealer! If anyone can help, thanks!

Need Makeup Tips!

11 March 2013 - 02:05 PM

I need help! Ever since I started using benzoyl peroxide I can't seem to get my makeup to go on smoothly. As soon as I put on makeup it doesn't cover ANYTHING. Except the spots where I don't have acne, which is a small section, it doesn't stick to anywhere. I moisturizer before and I am using a primer. I use brushes also. The trouble spots like my lower face, you can even see at my hairs on my face. Before using bp I never had this problem and I didn't use a primer then. I decided one day to not use bp and my makeup when on beautifully. I need to use bp to help clear the acne. Am I not using a good primer? I was thinking I should just focus on healing my skin first and not wear makeup at all.

Blistex Causing Lip-Line Acne

11 March 2013 - 01:00 PM

Blistex and lip balms

I've been getting pimples on my lip line ever since I can remember. It just dawned on me after reading some articles on here that maybe my lip balms were giving me acne in that area. I use blistex as least 3 times a day. They other day I had 3 pimples on my lip line and the one hurts like hell. So I threw them away, and my Burt's bees because they had some minor comedogenic ingredients in them.
My blistex didn't have ingredients listed on the tube (how convenient) it must have been on the box it came in. Anywho I looked it up on the Internet and saw that the first three ingredients are the most comedogenic on dans list.
