Natural Antibiotics

19 March 2013 - 09:37 PM

Hey guys and gals, I was just wondering if any of you had any success with natural antibiotics? I've done some research and the ones that come up again and again are garlic, aloe vera, mint, manuka honey, and tea tree oil. I've tried garlic before...for a few days, and the few days I was taking it I woke up with less inflamed acne. But I found the taste too strong- it just made me feel sick. I notice that when I mix it in with food rather than take it raw first thing in the morning, it just doesn't have the same effect, and I'm not sure that garlic capsules will work the same. I've tried manuka and cinnamon masks and it makes my skin smoother...but that's all I can say for now. As for taking it- it really improves my propensity to colds and gives me more energy! But does not help my acne. I'm allergic to tea tree and have tried aloe which just kind of soothes...so I guess my question is

do any of you know of other natural antibiotics? Have you taken any? (or are you interested in doing so?) And if you have, what are your results? Thank you so much, everyone!

Skinoren/azeliac Acid Help

12 February 2013 - 02:51 AM

Hey guys! So I've just been prescribed azeliac acid as a topical- my acne is quite severe, and i tried it yesterday and it can be quite...greasy? But it leaves your skin feeling a bit dry after you wash it off. Anyway, my gp (I live in England) didn't really go through it with me, she just said to read the leaflet that comes with it, but I'm confused, so I hope you guys can help me with any of these questions

  • - Do I have to put moisturizer on after skinoren or do i skip that step? (my skin can get dry - I use la roche posay moisturizing fluid)
  • - does it help with blackheads as well? (i have a lot)
  • - will it not damage my skin? Is it safe to use long term?
  • - will i get acne again once i stop using?
  • - what are your experiences if you have used it?

thank you again if you can answer any of these questions at all! Especially the first! You guys are lifesavers, I don't know what I would do without this forum! I'm so happy I discovered it biggrin.png

Is Argan Oil Comedogenic?

17 January 2013 - 07:11 AM

Hey guys! I really need your help! I've been reading about argan oil and I really want to try, but some people say it could be comedogenic, while some say it doesn't block your pores at all. I intend to use it as a moisturizer. I have inflamed, and quite severe, acne, but I'm trying to get better via the natural route! (I really don't want to take accutane) So what are your experiences with argan oil? Or what have you heard about it? Does it block pores and cause more breakouts? Or does it really help with the inflamation/scarring? Share your thoughts with me, lovelies!
