#3341238 On Being Ugly

Posted by heyybrighteyes on 16 April 2013 - 11:28 PM

I just thought i'd share a video i saw recently..

it's really helped with how i see myself and others, and how i view my acne, etc.

i know firsthand how hard it is to feel beautiful or attractive when you have acne covering your face

but sometimes we have to remember the more important things in life.

i hope this helps at least one person.

i would like to add that i do not think she's ugly!

nor i do agree with "dealing with your own ugliness"

ugliness is found in the heart, not in appearances.

#3332073 Makeup With The Regimen

i've been using neutrogena healthy skin

its pretty sheer! but buildable and doesnt clog my pores

it can be dewy so its best to set it with a powder.

probably my favorite though is maybelline superstay

stays on all day, satin finish without a powder, covers EVERYTHING.

but its thick... and potentially clogs pores but hasnt broken me out

my only real con with it is that the colors dont match me :(

i have to mix it and even then.. it can look a bit orange or pink on me :/

i used to use the tinted moisturizer by physicians formula

its really lightweight! it would even out my skin tone nicely but you could still see blemishes

but its good if youre not looking for something too heavy

and you dont need to set it with powder

all from the drugstore :)

hope this helps in some way!

i always recommend apple cider vinegar toner with the mother. just dilute it in spring water half and half.

apply it morning and night with a cotton pad, after cleansing

and make sure to moisturize.

honey masks also work well in lightening the skin

neither of these break me out and ive seen amaziinggg results :)

you just have to be consistent with it or it wont be a dramatic change!

either way though good luck to  you! the chemical peels should be good! i've never had one but i know they help a lot of others: )

#3317059 Clearing From The Inside Out (Pcos)

Posted by heyybrighteyes on 09 January 2013 - 12:38 PM

Hello to anyone reading!
I'm starting this blog in hopes of generating discussion and support for one another.
And to hopefully help anyone who is dealing with the same conditions as I am.
I feel safe sharing my story on here, for all of us dealing with acne know what it's really like to suffer day to day.

This is my journey with acne.

I've had acne since probably my sophomore or junior year in high school. I am now 22 years old. And I am a female.
So that's give or take 6 to 7 years.

Around the middle of my senior year I was diagnosed with appendicitis and had to have my appendix removed, which up until recently I never really thought twice about cause the doctors told me it wasn't a very necessary function to the body anyway.
My acne remained consistent thereafter.
For years! Years and years! I ate poorly! In high school I would usually skip breakfast, and at snack time munch down on a huge bag of hot cheetos and other junk food. For lunch I liked to eat fried chicken strips and fries with a soda, and for dinner my mom usually made spaghetti.
I was basically depriving myself of any and all nutrition.
When i started working at jack in the box from 2008-2010 I would eat tacos, burgers, and ice cream nearly everytime I worked. And I was working full time.

Long story short, I was obviously doing a lot of damage to my body for a lot of years.
And not to mention all the sugar I was consuming, I believe, has definitely taken a toll on my body (I never passed up dessert).

Now to more personal stuff..
I can't say how long, for lack of a decent memory lol, but for years I have had certain symptoms that I never really understood.
I'll list em off
Hair loss (especiallyalong my hair line near on the sides of the forehead)
Dark hair growth on my chin and around my belly button
Uneven, and oddly shaped breasts
Fatigue
And other things ... I don't want to mention lol

I recently discover these are signs of PCOS
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Acne is another sign...

If you have any of these symptoms, and havent heard of PCOS, I suggest looking it up.

To try and treat this, I've been eating a clean diet. Taking supplements such as: Saw Palmetto, Cod Liver Oil, Zinc, Cinnamon, and Milk Thistle (cause I believed my liver was damaged as well).

For a few days I've been washing my face with African Black Soap, and moisturizing with Jojoba Oil.
Sometimes, when I'm going to wear makeup, I use Simple's Light Moisturizer.

Ive also recently started drinking water kefir (about 3-4 days), but I think i drank too much in the beginning when it wasn't finished brewing and it wreaked havoc on my skin. The next morning my skin looked irritated and red. So I've cut back to like a shot glass a day.

My skin was clear when I started this (about a month ago of clean diet, excluding christmas), but now it seems to be resorting back.
I'm hoping these new, natural additions will help me out.

I'd love to hear anyone else's journey with clearing holistically or struggling with PCOS.
Thanks for taking the time to read all this, if you did smile.png
I know it was long!
