About Me

Greetings!

Dry Skin, acne scars, occasional cysts, hyper pigmentation (mostly genetic)

Acne epigenetically triggered by stress from first year of college (which was an year ago), been suffering since, though I must admit, it has been quite a journey

I LOVE experimenting with new regimens and researching about acne (it's fascinating!)

So basically I found out I was allergic to dairy products (especially milk!!!) so I cut that shit outta my diet (slowly slowly)

I was miserable and depressed because changing your diet is a HUGE pain and I loved my tea with milk. So I went to Whole Foods and bought Almond Milk (Soy milk wasn't uuuhh that pleasing to my taste buds). It was a little getting used to and I have had my fair share of emotional breakdowns over the no milk issue.

The thing is I've been consuming dairy products all my life so I didn't how this allergy even started. Then I learned about epigenetics in my anthro class! woow. The thing is, certain genes in our body can be activated from the environment. I knew I had the acne gene (my dad suffered from acne when he was in his 20's too) but my face was okay throughout high school. But bam, college hit and I experienced cystic acne for the first time. It was uh, pretty bad.

blah blahblah

alright you get the point...

My Current Skincare Lifestyle

  • no: dairy, junk food, fast food (BYE BYE),oily foods, soda, sugary foods, touching face, makeup (BYE OH HELLO CONFIDENCE),
  • yes: fruit & plant based diets (mmm PECTIN), eyeliner :)
  • tree tea oil every other night
  • nubian black soap face wash every morning
  • aloe vera cleanser (from The Body Shop) + baking soda 2x a week (exfoliatteeee)
  • the above followed by honey+lemon face mask (for ze lovely scars)

nothing too crazy as you can tell.

To be honest, my life has changed completely after cutting out dairy products, FOR THE BETTER. I've been shopping a lot at Whole Foods and adapted an overall healthy stress free lifestyle :)))

It's amazing what little things can do!

Thank you for reading !!! Please don't hesitate to message me if you have any questions!!!!
