Hello, my name is Michelle and after years of searching on the Internet for acne "cures", talking to dermatologists and studying journal entries on PubMed I've decided to share my knowledge with as many as I can. I greatly enjoy reading scientific research especially in the dermatology field, and while I haven't yet found a way to be completely clear (I may never be!), I believe I can guide acne sufferers to their right treatments and alleviate at least some of their stress. In the end I hope I can prevent others from making the same mistakes I did from wasting time and money on so-called miracle treatments and blindly picking out products and regimens. One day I hope to go into a medical field like dermatology or another scientific field where I can help others. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and writing sci-fi and non-fiction, oil painting and drawing, correcting essays, playing video games and go bird watching.
My acne: I'm about 95% clear with mainly blackheads and the occasional big pustule on my face, while my back has more papules and pustules but otherwise mild. I have discoloration around my chin due to excessive application of 10% benzoyl peroxide and an alcoholic toner from following misleading and inaccurate advice in a magazine 4 years ago, but it's slowly fading. I hope to eventually use topical prescription retinoids and get an IPL Photofacial to greatly improve my uneven skin tone. I have several icepick scars, half of which are self-inflicted (why the heck did I pick at them?), and the other half were from deeply inflamed pustules.
Note: If you want to ask me anything, feel free in sending me a PM so I can get to you faster.
