Here are a couple pictures of my post acne scars. I've had acne since I was in high school and I feel really embarrassed about myself with scars on my face except my forehead. I've made an appointment to see a plastic surgeon about possible Erbium Laser treatment to help my acne scars, but don't plan on doing it until the summer time. So since I'm waiting for my appointment, what kind of questions should I ask the doctor? Should I ask for Retin-A? He only offers two kinds of treatments for acne scars which is laser & Chemical Peels. 

 

Anyways back to the point of this topic, Should I get Erbium laser treatment or should I look into something else? Here are a couple pictures...

 

These scars are really deep and I'm not sure if erbium would do the trick.

I have a appointment with a plastic surgeon to see if there is anything that can be done to help removing my acne scars. This visit will be a second opinion since I went to a dermatologist a couple days ago to only find out he doesn't recommend any treatments for helping me remove my acne scars because my skin to too "dark".

 

So I did some research and asked a question on realself.com and was told by the surgeons there that they would recommend C02 fractional laser surgery or Erbium laser surgery. They only made suggestions after posting pictures of my scars.

 

My question is that has anyone ever gotten any of those treatments and how much did it cost you?

I went to a dermatologist today 2/19/13 and I basically went to to see him for my scars, large pores on both sides of my nose and redness.

 

Basically he told me that if I had seen him earlier during 2007 when i first went to see a dermatologist that I would have been a perfect accutane patient. However I wasn't put on the pill instead i was put on a simple benzoyl peroxide 5% gel and basically used that for my a long time. Now last year I was prescribed 80MG Solodyn by a different dermatologist that works at the same place and I just started using that last month. It really helped reduce the number of pimples and helped with some of the redness.

 

However I went to see another dermatologist about my acne scars and redness.

I was told that laser treatment or even a cream like Retin-A would not be suggested because my skin color is dark. I asked if there was any treatment that would have with my scars and was told straight up "NO". So what do you guys think by looking at the picture of my skin, is there any actual treatment that would work?

Alright so when I was in high school i used to get these solid light brown material form between both side of my nose and i was young and stupid and eventually just began pushing them out and eventually led to scaring. I do have acne scars as well but the scars around the sides of my nose and small but noticeable when up in person. So I'm 20 now and I want to get these little dots removed from the sides of my nose but not sure what kind of treatment i should go for to remove them. Below are some pictures and would like some suggestions on how i should proceed before heading to the doctor.

 

Would chemical peeks be able to remove these scars or make them less noticeable?

Well I'm going to give this pill called Solodyn a try after i got a prescription from my dermatologist this past March. At first i was alright and then i took a indept look at what the side effects were and to be honest I hate taking pills that have stupid side effects. So anyways I decided that It was time for me to take them since I am on my winter break until Janurary 14th and basicaly it would give me enough time to see what kind of side effects i would get or maybe hopefully none.

I've had acne between age 13-14. Ever since my acne started getting worse so did my skin with the left over scars from the acne. By looking at my skin really close i would say i have ice pick type acne scars and my scars are the only things that make me uncomfortable when taking pictures, talking to people face to face, and just being around people who have that perfect skin. My acne as of right now isn't as bad as it was when i was younger "I'm 20 years", and in order for me to actually do something about my scars, I need to first defeat the acne that causes them so then I can defeat the scars themselves by getting any type of treatment to make my skin clear from scars.


Anyways I will update this thread to weekly and most likely will post pictures.
