Can Anyone Help Me With My Skin?

13 November 2013 - 08:53 AM

Okay so I'm 15 and I've had acne since I was like 10... it really sucks. It has left me with no self confidence at all. I've gotten bullied for it and I literally can hardly look in the mirror without wanting to cry its gotten so bad. I need some kind of help... nothing works for me. I've tried natural remedies like the caveman regimen, african black soap, tons of homeade masks, and the OCM. I've tried some lush products, proactiv, and all the drugstore brands. A nurse told me to try just plain bar soap and scrub my skin with a clean wash cloth twice a day. I've taken prescription antibiotics that helped some but the side effects were too severe to continue and my acne came back worse. I've tried retin-a and taking different vitamins that are supposed to help with acne... i don't know why nothing is working. I can't stay the night at friends houses becuase I don't want them to see me without makeup... I won't even go around my own family without makeup on. The only thing I want is to be able to feel pretty without makeup!

Anyway acne runs in my family. My mom was on accutane when she was younger and she wont let me go on it because of how bad it is for you. Currently I'm just using african black soap and doing a 5 minute 20% SA peel once a week. It has helped some but not very much. I'm thinking about trying some new stuff from lush because I think that was the healthiest my skin had been since I've had acne. Last time I didn't really try the stronger stuff ment for acne because I thought my skin was really dry but that was just from using proactiv. The products I tried didn't really do anything for my acne but they improved my skin overall so this is what I want to try this time around.

Tea tree toner

grease lighting

and then I'm probably gonna order some coconut oil for a moisterizer

Dark angles

I'll still do the weekly peels and I'll probably order some of their tea tree tablets and steam my face weekly too. I also want to start eating healthy and try to remove most dairy from my diet. So like for breakfast I think I'm going to try having an organic hemp smoothie each morning with rice milk and occasionally some greek yogurt(this will probably hold me over until lunch since I normally don't eat breakfast anyway.) And then for lunch have some kind of salad with a source of protein and for dinner cook something healthy... If anyone has some suggestions or any tips or anything please let me know. If you know of any like supplements or foods or products I should be using/taking tell me. I think a lot of my acne has to do with hormones and I'm not allowed to take birth control so if theres anything safe for a 15 year old I could take to help with that let me know...

I also have a problem with picking so I have a ton of scars.... I know it has to do with physiological reasons because its like my release. You could almost say its my version of cutting. Whenever I'm bored or mad or something happens I go to the mirror and pick so I'm going to try to stop picking. If anyone has tips to stop picking tell me those too. I may or may not update this with like pictures and stuff... I might blog everything idk...

Moisturizer For Extremely Dry Skin?

05 April 2013 - 08:40 AM

Okay so I guess you could say what I'm doing for my acne is a version of the regimen. I've been doing it for like a little less than a week and its really clearing up my skin. What I'm doing is washing with luna black soap with shea butter unscented for like 10 seconds in lukewarm water then letting my face dry for about 10 minutes then putting about a quarter size amount of proactivs step 2 (its 2.5% bp) and letting that dry then using an olay moisterizer mixed with olive oil and loading that on then letting it soak in for a few minutes and dabbing off the exess. My skin is seriously so dry since I started this though... even with using the olive oil. I do it twice a day. Oh yeah I forgot to add that I'm like doing to ocm with olive oil before I wash my face because the dead skin build up was getting really bad and that helped and it didn't break me out so I started doing that plus it isn't really a scrub because I'm just using my fingers so it doesn't iritate my skin. Btw I'm 14 and my mom wont buy me any more face stuff because I already have a lot so I can't get anything new. Is there like something I could make for my dry skin or like something I would have around the house to use for it? Will the bp stop drying me out after a while? I'm doing thisbecause I saw the video gossthemakeupartist did on youtube about his acne. He said he used just plain sunscreen and it got rid of the flakyness but I don't really want to put straight up sunscreen on my face.

Zest Soap For Acne?

25 March 2013 - 02:06 PM

Okay so I have had mild acne since I was like 10 or 11 and now I'm 14 and its gotten so bad I can't even walk out of my bedroom without makeup on and no matter how much makeup I wear you can still see the redness and acne through it. Its so embarrassing because I'm a dancer so at like competitions I have to take off my makeup because I'll be wearing like costume makeup and I'll have to change it to a different character or something and take it all off and I've had people ask me if it was an allergic reaction to the face paints! I just want it gone! One of the people on my team their moms a nurse and her friends daughter had acne that got bad and she said this is how they cleared it. She said they used just zest soap. ( i think thats what it was called... it was just like a normal soap that isn't supposed to leave a residue and it doesn't have any irritating ingredients or anything) She washed her face with it twice a day and didn't use anything else. She would take a clean wash cloth and run it under hot water and hold it over her face for a minute or so then rub the soap on the wash cloth and scrub her face with the wash cloth and then she would rinse with freezing cold water. Apparently it dried her face out bad for the first week but it cleared it and its been a week and a half and its almost clear. Idk though if it would work for me. I'm using african black soap from coastal scents that has shea butter added, the proavtiv toner, and an aveeno moisterizer right now and its not doing anything. Should I try this with my black soap and see if it works because I thought black soap would be better than zest since its like natural and everything... idk

Starting Retin-A. What Should I Expect?

22 January 2013 - 03:52 PM

Okay so I'm 14 and I have pretty bad acne for my age. I just started a generic version of retin-a. I've just past the 1 week mark and I had been using it every 3 nights and now I bump it up to every 2 nights then every other night and if i dont have too much irratation im supposed to use it every night. I'm taking one a day womens multivitamin too becuase it has vitamins and minerals that are supposed to help with acne. my derm just gave me the perscription and didn't really tell me much info besides when to use it. I read online that you cants us BP with it but SA is supposed to work good with it. Should I use SA in the mornings? (I have a moisterizer that has SA in it) Also I know you are supposed to use a gentle face wash with it and the only face washes I have are ones with BP so should I use just plain olive oil like in the OCM?

I'm Sick And Tired Of My Acne!

16 December 2012 - 07:57 PM

Okay I'm 14 and my acne has been really bad in the past couple months. I'm seriously so embarrassed to do anything. I'm even embarrassed being around my family. I'm sick and tired of my acne and trying so many products. This is gonna be my little acne diary type thing so I can update about changes and look back to see what works and what doesn't. Below is a list of things I've tried.
Caveman Regimen
Urine Therepy
Lush Products
Elf zit zapper
and probably a lot more I just can't think of.

I'm not going to go on accutane or anything because I know how bad it is for you. Below is what I'm doing for my acne right now.

Scrub face with olive oil for blackheads
wash face with hot water and oxy maximum strength
apply Lush's grease lightning all over my face

wash with oxy maximum strength
Take 1 100 minocycline pill
Take 3 (not sure what brand) gummy probiotics.
Take 3,000 mg of bioton
Take b complex
take vitamin c
aplly aveeno spf 30 daily moisterizer.

I'm going to do this for like 1 month and see what that does for my acne. If it doesn't work I guess I'll try something different. Feel free to post suggestions/ ask questions.
