Did Differin 0.3 Cream For 12 Weeks And...

14 November 2012 - 12:55 AM

I have not gotten any good results from it. :(

The whiteheads/comedones and bumps on my cheeks and forehead are still there, and it's driving me crazier than ever. It seems that I'll need to be visiting my derm again to see if he has any suggestions. I feel quite depressed about it all. When I first started Differin, I was positive it was going to work. I am wondering if ANYTHING will cure my terrible complexion. Does anyone have an idea of where I will go from here?

On another note: last month, I noticed an odd bump on my right cheek a couple of inches under my eye that wasn't going away. The bump was the same color as my skin, but when I would smile, you could see a tiny little dent on my cheek (although, I'm sure it was only visible to me). I was getting tired of it, so last night I tried to squeeze it and see if I could get pus out. I wasn't able to get pus out, but it did get dark red and start 'weeping' with some sort of liquid. I'm kind of concerned, because as I type this, I can tell that it's STILL weeping twenty-four hours later. What could it be?

Thank you so much for listening to me ramble. I've been dealing with these issues for over a year and a half now, and it's taking it's toll!

Comedones, Whiteheads, And Bumps. Will Differin Be Effective?

01 September 2012 - 05:46 PM

First off, I am so sorry for constantly asking questions! I'm just kind of freaking out, because I've been reading too much...

So, my derm prescribed me Differin 0.3 gel and Clindamycin for comedones and whiteheads on my forehead and cheeks. I am on my third week, and I have noticed a bit of an IB. Sadly, I haven't noticed any changes with the whiteheads/comedones, and I am really worried that the Differin won't help with those, because I've read many people saying that it didn't help them. I'm just really sick of all the bumps, and I hate the uncertainty of it all. I know I'm only on my third week, but the anticipation is killing me.

Thanks for your answers! :)

Differin And Makeup?

28 August 2012 - 03:09 PM

My dermatolagist perscribed me Differin 0.3 due to an insane amount of whiteheads and bumps on my cheeks and forehead. I just started my third week and so far I'm not noticing any changes except for peeling and itchiness, especially on my cheeks and chin. As well, my face is quite red and bumpy. I have TONS of whiteheads/pustules on my cheeks, which are really embarrassing, so I inevitably use foundation to cover them and the redness a bit. The makeup I use is Almay Clear Complexion. It is non-comedogenic, but it also has 0.6% Salicylic Acid in it. And, I must admit that I probably put far too much than I should, which could be upsetting my skin.
So, with all that being said, I have a few questions:
  • Could this be a sort of Acne Cosmetica? If so, will the Differin help clear it up if I keep using the foundation? (I seriously hope so!)
  • Could the Salicylic Acid mess with the effects of the Differin, causing it to work differently?
  • If the Almay makeup is causing Acne Cosmetica, would there be a different foundation that I could possibly use?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! I am really paranoid, because this is my first ever bout with acne, and I am not used to it at all. I just want to do everything correctly with the Differin! xD

(OH! And I am also using Clindamycin lotion twice a day!)
