#3454895 Thereisalwayshope Accutane Log

Posted by thereisalwayshope on 07 October 2014 - 12:34 AM

Update Day 27

So it has been nearly one month starting Accutane! I am going to keep it short and sweet...I am breaking out ever couple days and currently have one active. My skin is no longer dry and my lips are no longer dry thanks to aquaphor lip repair balm (thanks CWR24!). I got my blood drawn again today to prepare for next months accutane prescription. I am totally ready to continue this journey!

This is my 4th day on accutane and still haven't noticed anything- no IB or side affects yet

Oh YAY! I am so glad that you are on Accutane too! We can help each other through this. I would just be prepared for the side affects. They are not kind to the skin!

I will be posting a picture very soon!

It is much cheaper. I bottle of that acne supplement was around 40$ and would only last be 16 days! lol so yeah going out and buying them individually in bulk proved to be the way to go. I posted some links to people from acne.org who were using some of the supplement where I began this regimen. But if I could guess I could think it is B5, l-cysteine, and Niacin + Vitamin C. One of the links I posted included a gentleman who had pretty bad acne and got clear with those supplements, and I honestly think is it them. But you are right it is too hard to tell exactly.

I am glad BP is keeping you relatively clear. If I would recommend you any I would recommend for sure B5 (pantothetic acid), Vitamin C, Niacin, and L-cysteine based on my progress and the story of one guy on acne.org. I have been using lemon juice as a toner every night and every evening and my brown spots are fading pretty fast. I would definitely recommend this! It has AHA which exfoliates and removes dead skin and is a natural lightening agent.

I went from using the regimen with 90% success, but now at 100% no breakouts is much better because I am not dealign with new spots to get rid of you know? I hope things work out for you, I am rooting for you!

Sorry Lily and Michelle it wont let me quote you guys by the way!

Day 54 Update

So I am still pimple free! I am still taking the supplements I have listed and I have begun to reduce the amount of BP even further. I hope within another month if I continue the wonderful progress, that I will go to only using one drop of bp per application and from there I plan to reduce to once a day, and finally off it completely.

I have never been this clear ever. My skin is looking fabulous. I hope these supplements keep working their magic. New update in about a week!

My attempt to clear my acne internally:
Okay everyone! After hours upon hours of research to find other ways to cure my acne internally I have come to conclusion that certain vitamins do it best. First I went looking on amazon for acne pills and came across one called Clearzine Acne Solution. It is a supplement and contained wonderful ingredients, however there was a big problem with it because it was really expensive for the amount given and meant I would need to reorder every 10-20 days, which in completely unacceptable on a college student budget, albeit I still splurge on my skin every now and then. So because I was not going to order this so called "acne pill" I decided to examine its label and purchase each of its vitamins and minerals myself. This option is much cheaper in the long run. I opted out of purchasing two of the vitamins, as they did not have much scientific evidence regarding their effectiveness to control and prevent acne.
I purchased the vitamins then continued my search for more acne fighting vitamins. I found many good things on our wonderful site and others as well.
So I just want to give people quick synopsis of my skin. (Check out my gallery to see my pictures from before starting the acne.org regimen). I use the regimen still to this day. It has been about a year and a half since I started. I still breakout our every once and a while, but I manage to stay about 90% clear most of the time.
Okay now to the fun stuff. There are much more link than I have posted below for you all to read up on but these are important ones to me. Here is what I am currently taking:
-Chromium 500mg ~ http://www.acne.org/...c-and-chromium/http://www.acne.org/messageboard/topic/69254-i--    beg-all-of-you-to-try-zinc-chromium/
-Vitamin B5 3000mg ( I take 1500mg in the morning and again in the evening and I plan on dropping this to 1000mg after a couple months) ~ Read this link I beg of you:http://www.acne.org/...after-10-years/. (B6 and L carnitine have been called accutane vitamins!!)
-L-carnitine 500mg ~ This is mentioned in the B5 link. The function is to "boost" vitamin B5 absorption in the body. This means that you do not have to mega-dose B6. Which is good news because severely mega dosing B6 can lead to hair loss.
Vitamin C 1000mg - Antioxidant. Many people with acne have inflammation in their bodies, which antioxidants can help with.
-Selenium 100mg ~ Very powerful Antioxidant
-Niacin 500mg ~ I use the flush version because it is the active version. I have heard of people with success using the non flush version but I wanted to stick to this specific form. helps tremendously with cystic acne. http://www.acne.org/...in-reviews-677/
-Biotin 200-250mg ~ B6 can deplete other B vitamins, especially biotin, so I take this amount is enough to keep levels normal. I have heard of individuals getting acne taking insane doses of biotin so I stick to the amount that my body needs to function.
-Chelated Zinc 60mg ~ Heals skin.  http://www.acne.org/zinc-reviews-200/http://www.acne.org/...-cure-for-acne/
-vitamin D3 ~ sunshine vitamin. Claims to cure acne. Will find links soon.

Search these vitamins yourself to see the benefits and whether or not you are willing to try a combination of these vitamins yourself. I do understand that I am taking a bunch but this is out of desperation lol. So, frankly, I do not care tongue.png
Meanwhile I am still going to use BP for the time being to give these pills a chance to work their magic (hopefully) and then I will come off of BP! Hopefully I stay wonderfully clear! Anyway I hope this post provided you with some interesting reads and let me know if you have any questions. My laptop charger is currently not working and I am waiting for a replacement, so I have to use the family computer. This means it may take me a little longer to respond than I would like, but bare with me smile.png Also sorry for grammar I do not have much time writing this!
I will update my pill progress periodically and whenever someone requests me.
Love you all ~ thereisalwayshope

Thank you CRW24.

I know people get paid to write reviews so that is why I was not sure myself....But again like you also mentioned, the ingredients are good. So I guess we will see. I think I will wait a bit more and I might just try it. I am trying to be positive lol.

Hey nice to read an update :) I am going to do that as soon as I am done writing this lol. I have no clue how long it has been since I have updated let alone been on this site. School has completely controlled my life this last semester, but thankfully that is passed me!

And regards to your question about that winter months ~ My skin does better in the winter than the summer. The humidity is not nice to my skin. I have to use so so much BP to stay 90 percent clear but it get better in the winter for me. My skin is weird ~

So how much BP are you currently utilizing for your skin? How has it changed since you first began the regimen?

#3386872 Bp Out…Thyme In. New Regimen Log!

Posted by thereisalwayshope on 06 October 2013 - 09:58 PM

Does anyone think that thyme essential oil would have the same kind of effect as thyme steeped in witch hazel? I like this tincture but I find it difficult to use all over my face more than once in a day because the alcohol is pretty drying (my skin is generally more dry than oily).

When I was reading about thyme it was said explicitly that it is the tincture that works and not the essential oil. But you can always try :)

I might actually be switxhing to a niacinamide topical. B vitamin which as been marketed by different pharm companies , and been shown to be as effective in not more than clindamycin with no possibility for antibacterial resistance . Also it's renowned for its ability to prevent water loss from the epidermal layer, and antiflammatory effects, oh and it's natural.
So I am going to switch to making my own niacinamide gel as I have seen from other DYI users. Niacin is extremely stable , so I plan on using aloe Vera as a carrier and pure niacin-amide powder.

Sounds really awesome and promising :) I have read about good things in regards to nicatimamide, so I hope this will work for you! When you do make it, can you provide a recipe here so people can make it for themselves if they see it works for you!

I also don't know how to get that article on this post lol.

The one from earlier? Didn't the message go through with it attached?

Hmmm no if you did I do not see it…can you send it again please?

thereisalwayshope, I think I'll stick with the witch hazel combo, too, for now. I want to really be able to see if it works without switching it up.

Just wanted people to know that there is an alternative! haha, especially because the alcohol can bother some people

Oh I totally understand you are wonderful :) I am glad to see that you will stick to witch hazel for now!

I have been using 2-3 layers twice a day. My skin was really bad, my forehead and jawline totally covered in white bumps. They are all healing. I had some come to a head which I extracted and immediately applied the thyme tincture. This is honestly the only thing that has worked for my adult acne. I even did accutane in college.

That is wonderful :) I use like 5 layer because my skin is not to be trusted lol. So if you need to just bump up the layers!

The more people trying it, the better! biggrin.png

thereisalwayshope, you've really started something here, haven't you? lol

Oh i hope :) I mean I do not want to take the credit for the idea since it is in fact all over the internet. But I just want some real person testimonials and not just results seen form a trial last year ya know haha. I am happy you came across my thread, you have been so much help :P

This sounds really great!  I might have to give this a try!  I have been on the regimen since June and my acne is mostly gone, but if this can help fade the red marks and keep acne away, I am in!

Greaat! Looking forward to seeing your results!

Right! where can i buy witch hazel by the gallon, tongue.png- thanks

Perhaps online? Hmmmm you know that is an excellent question! I will do some research and report back!

Also - for people using the tincture - had you used witch hazel on it's own or with something else to treat acne ever before? I've used witch hazel in the past and I think it helped with skin tone but didn't do much for my acne..

I know the alcohol thing was something I even had to get over, but hey 14% alcohol is better than smearing 6 pumps of BP on my face, so that is how I think about it smile.png

And Yes I have. I noticed some skin tone improvement with using just witchhazel, but did nothing to help my acne. How would you rate your acne 1-10?

If you don't want to use witch hazel, here's an alternative. There are some people who don't add the aloe- they just use apple cider vinegar. I think the apple cider vinegar does something similar to the thyme to bring out the antibacterial components. Vinegar (acetic acid) is very similar in structure to alcohols (-OH group), which means it probably reacts in the same way, chemically.

YAY for alternatives, I would just caution people who want to try the alternative to stick to it smile.png I understand, and have read about vinegar being able to do some pretty amazing stuff so it definitely may work. Thanks heitea for this.

I will not be using this alternative because I am almost two weeks into my regimen, and do not want to change things up. I want to make sure this will work 100% before I begin to toy with different ways of removing the alcohol content using other solutions in the first place. Anyway, keep the questions coming. Everyone here is super supportive and I love the teamwork!

I'm so happy that more people are giving thyme a try! My thyme tincture is currently steeping, can't wait to use it and see if it helps! FYI, I have moderate acne (2-3 cysts at a time, maybe 1-2 odd whitehead) - but I also have scarring and red marks. Good luck everyone!

biggrin.png yay! good luck!! let us know how it works for you!

>Okay science gurus, is there a way to use remove the alcohol content of the tincture, once the active thyme ingredients have been extracted, or is that asking too much??

Alcohol has a lower boiling point than witch hazel (ethanol = 178 F vs witch hazel = 190 F) so you could try to boil it out once the tincture is made. In fact, that would almost definitely work. However, you'd have to make a pretty good amount of it so that the rest of it doesn't boil out, too! haha.

Alcohol is also "volatile" which means it turns into a gas fairly quickly when exposed to the air. You could leave the tincture open after you have let it steep for a week or two to let the alcohol evaporate out. biggrin.png

FYI if you let the solution sit out, the entire tincture will also evaporate, so alcohol and thyme solution will be gone!!! I did that so please don't try lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had like one cup of tincture and i accidentally left it open for a few hours and when I came home almost all of the solution was gone and had evaporated!!!! And yes boiling can, but we cannot guarantee that the thyme formula will be chemically stable as a treatment once boiled!!!!!!! USE CAUTION PEOPLE WHEN EXPERIMENTING WITH DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES! IT MAY OR MAY NOT WORK!

Anyway happy days ahead.

Okay science gurus, is there a way to use remove the alcohol content of the tincture, once the active thyme ingredients have been extracted, or is that asking too much??

Probably not unless you had super high tech lab equipment lol :) What specifically about the 14& alcohol content are you worrying about?

I'm so happy that more people are giving thyme a try! My thyme tincture is currently steeping, can't wait to use it and see if it helps! FYI, I have moderate acne (2-3 cysts at a time, maybe 1-2 odd whitehead) - but I also have scarring and red marks. Good luck everyone!

Continue to update us, remember the longer you steep the better it will work. A few weeks will work the best, but you can use it as soon as you want, just expect things to look better once thyme has had more time to sit :) Good Luck to you!

Thank you so much for this post! I am 32 and have recently had nearly the worst skin of my life. My derm put me on clindamycin, which didn't help. She added oral antibiotics, which also did nothing for me. Then I got pregnant and stopped the oral. I eventually stopped the clindamycin too since it wasn't doing anything (she said ok to use this while pregnant). I tried salicylic acid scrub and lotion to no avail, tea tree oil Dr Bronners soap (too drying, didn't work), oil cleansing method (broke out worse!) and BP wash (hate how it bleaches everything and didn't work anyway). I made an appt with my derm to see what to do, can't do much when you're pregnant. I have been looking for a natural safe way to care for my super oily/acne prone skin. Thyme tincture seemed to have some legit science behind it and good reviews from users and docs, so I gave it a try. Like you I couldn't wait 2 weeks to try it. I used it immediately after putting in the thyme and every day since. 3 days later my skin is finally starting to look better. I was covered in small bumps all over face and chest and they are healing. My skin feels better and I don't think new zits are forming. I also started using jojoba oil to try to balance my oily skin. I hope others read these posts, this seems to really work and safe and natural and no bleached shirts! Thanks!!

I am soooo happy my post has been able to help you in some way! I hope you continue to use this and update us. As I have said to others keep steeping your thyme so that it will work better. I personally use 4 layers of thyme, waiting for each to dry, how many do you use if you don't mind me asking? Do you use the tincture once a day? or twice?

I would appreciate knowing. I just would like to see how people are going about using the tincture :) Please update here and continue to let us know how everything is going!!!

****see everyone, there is always hope :P

****I really HOPE everyone will give this method at least a month, preferably more, for this to work its magic. Use your thyme twice a day, using more layers for more severe acne, and make more early on! You will use this stuff faster than you think, and you don't want to run out then have to make another batch that won't be nearly as strong as your first. When I began this post less than two weeks ago, I did not think it would get this popular so fast, but I am super excited now!

Have a good night acne.org. May your skin further heal tonight.
