In Topic: Face Still Not Clear After 5 Months Of Accutane

15 February 2012 - 08:07 PM

don't worry accutane didn't clear me up after 6 months either...so it's probably not the oil that causes you acne? maybe bacteria, or something internal with you stomach. at least for me that's what i have it narrowed down to. my skin as of now is "normal" oil wise you could say but i still get acne, no where near as bad as before accutane but it's still moderate/mild. sooo it might be the build up of toxins in your body idk lol i'm just spewing words now.

Well when I was on Accutane there was no oil on my face anymore. After I was done my course the oil eventually came back. Right now my face gets quite oily.

Not really sure what you can really do except to go on a second course? did you happen to stop taking accutane on your own?

Yeah I was suppose to do a 6 month course but I was getting severe chest pains so I stopped at 5 months. Even as of today my chest has yet to fully recover.

the way accutane works is by completely shutting down your pores producing sebum. no sebum no bacteria no acne. for some people acne does not come back but for others it still does. This could mean a few things. but the one thing that comes to my mind when you say that your acne is now coming back seems how the pores are back open and producing sebum is the fact that your insides are not healthy. there are still toxins inside your body that are wanting to come out through the skin and since they havent been able to this entire time you were on accutane they are now going to start releasing themselves now that they are able to(with working sebum pores) my suggestion to you is to start a diet start eating healthy. for atleast a month and your acne should start receeding if this is the case. you may have to start eating a little healthier from now on. check out the nutrition forums!!

honestly do you eat junk? or did you eat junk while you were on accutane?

for back and chest acne i heard Head and Shoulders 'Classic Clean' shampoo was good for acne there.
Good luck!

Well I did recently smoke cigarettes for 4 months but I stopped. I eat decently healthy but I will now try to eat super healthy and see how it goes.

It has been 2 weeks since I've stopped taking Accutane. My chest pains have reduced by 60% but if I crack my chest by leaning back and stretching it out the pain disappears. I do this once a day after I wake up to get rid of the pain. Should I be worried or should the pain slowly go away?

It is your body and your health, you have to make that decision on if you should stop!
It is a documented side effect and I believe in the U.S. it states lowering your dose may or may not help. You say you have been on 5months, Roche states that it continues to work up to 2months after your course is over. How long is your derm having you on it?

My dermatologist wants me on it for 6-7 months.

I've been having chest pain as well.

Quick question, do you have a sharp pain in your chest when you sneeze? That's been happening to me lately.

I rarely sneeze so I'm not sure but yeah mine is sharp pain too. When I'm sitting down and I turn my whole body including my head to the left or right as much as I can I feel a sharp pain in my chest sternum area. Sometimes I even hear the bone crack (like the sound you hear when you crack your knuckles).

I'm going to make another appointment to see my dermatologist asap. Should I continue taking my accutane? I'm half way into my 5th month. The pain isn't as bad as it was a month ago.
