Your Experiences With Sunlight Exposure To Acne Scarring And Hyperpigmentation?

28 April 2013 - 02:20 PM

Summers coming up and I want to know if I should avoid the sun like a vampire or if it would help the scarring in some way. share your experiences with your acne scars and hyperpigmentation being exposed to sunlight, and your skin tanning etc. Did the white scars stay white or did they blend in? Did the red/purple marks get darker? etc.

Hard Painless Lump Post-Cyst?

23 April 2013 - 12:31 PM

Most of my cysts completely disappear but i've had a couple that even though the swelling and pain has gone, theres still a hard lump where it used to be - is there anything I can do to help it drain away without sticking a needle in my face?

Also, if anyone else experiences this, most of my cysts leave a purpley mark behind that looks like trapped blood, like the cyst filled with blood and its still there? Some of them have been there for a year and have faded like 20% if that. They dont go white/ fade into the skin when you press down on them (some of them do slightly)

Men - What Works For You?

04 April 2013 - 10:08 AM

^ in the title really,

I feel like male acne is a lot more stubborn (generally men have thicker, oilier skin than women) and a lot of the ladies on here combine their treatment with birth control or other hormone related treatments that we men obviously cant use.

So without wanting to look sexist I thought it would be worth creating a thread for guys to post what they are using and what works for them.

Include any vitamins/supplements, too, because I imagine the different vitamins would work differently in male bodies (im no scientist so correct me if im wrong).

Ive also  read a lot different things regarding masturbation - for some people, absitence works, but ive read that masturbating on a regular basis works for some guys too, maybe that levels out hormone levels if you do it routinely?

Diet Affects Acne - My Sister Is Living Proof

21 March 2013 - 04:27 PM

Basically my sister uses nothing on her skin - she leaves her makeup on every single night, the only thing she does to her face is occasionally wipe it with a wet washcloth some mornings.

But her acne still comes and goes - ive seen it get severe (i mean severe), to now where its clear.

She explained to me how she gave up on topicals a long time ago, because she knows that her diet is the only thing that affects her skin. For her, the main culprits are dairy, eggs, sugary drinks and junk food (mcdonalds etc.)

The things that improve her skin other than avoiding these foods are drinking lots of water, and washing her face with normal bar soap.

She still breaks out, but really inconsistently - whenever she strays from her diet. (when she does break out it gets pretty bad)

She consistently leaves her makeup on when she goes to bed, yet shes clear right now purely down to diet. I'm going to follow in her footsteps (although ill wash my face twice a day and use BP because it helps).

"skin Produces More Oil To Compensate" A Myth?

19 March 2013 - 03:58 PM

I always read that if you use irritating or drying products, your skin will produce more oil to compensate for the dryness. Is this a scientifically proven phenomena or is it a complete myth?
