Vitamin A Vs. Vitamin D Vs. Dim (Diindolymethane) For Acne?

25 March 2013 - 01:26 PM

Hey Acne.org, I'm trying to incorporate vitamin supplements into my daily regimen for acne. Although, I'm really confused about which supplements (and how much of it) to take. I narrowed my options down to 3 main supplements that I feel have the greatest effect against acne with minimal side effects.

1) DIM (Diindolymethane): This supposedly stops acne in about a week by destroying bad estrogen and balancing your hormones. However, I heard it was only temporary.http://www.acne.org/...pic/187299-dim/

2) Vitamin D/D3: This is the sunshine vitamin. This produces the effect of being exposed to sunlight longer. http://www.acne.org/.../704/page1.html

3) Vitamin A: Not exactly sure how this works but I heard it is a strong acne fighter. http://www.acne.org/.../486/page1.html

Do you guys have more knowledge on which supplements to take that have worked for you? Thanks!

How can I even out my skin tone? The left side of my face is scar filled where as the right side of my face is clear. Do you guys recommend laser, microderms, peels, or just over the counter products? Any advice is GREATLY appreciated. I have pictures as well I upload on flickr b/c they were too HQ to be uploaded directly.

BTW: I am an Asian male if that helps.

Thanks!

*UPDATE* Please help! Which scar treatment do you guys think would work best for me...

25 July 2011 - 08:30 PM

I'm SO sorry for posting twice! I just thought it would be easier and more clear if I post some pictures and ask a more direct question. Anyways these are what my main scars/hyperpigmentation look like. They're located on my left cheek. Which approach should I take to get rid of my dark spots? Microderm...peels...etc? Also these are just regular dark marks, not box car, rolling, or ice peak scars. I tried so many over the counter products that just won't work! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!

Best treatment for old hyperpigmentation/scarring?

25 July 2011 - 07:31 PM

Hey guys with all the over the counter medications such as peels and topical treatments, what's the best way to get rid of old hyperpigmentation/scars? People have recommended me to use Emu Oil, Lactic Acid Peel, TCA peels, Salicylic Acid Peels and etc. Which treatment is generally the best for getting rid of old dark marks though? Or should I forget about these over the counter treatment and get a professional microdermabrasion or chemical peel done?

Thanks!!!
