Why Did Aloe Vera Make My Skin Worse?

24 April 2013 - 12:39 PM

So, i had this patch of skin just under  and around the corner of my mouth. It was angry and red, but with a week or so of hard graft i had it faded to a light brown. Bearable enough but I still endeavoured to try and get it a normal skin colour like on the other side.

So I decided to buy an aloe vera plant and apply the gel to help sooth the skin further, as it's a pretty well known fact aloe is liquid gold for the skin...right?

Well I put some on after a shower this morning, and literally after 3 hours it had turned in a red patch again that looked angry and almost felt like it was burning.

Can any shed any light at all as to why my skin has reacted like this to aloe vera?? It was pure from the plant, so it can't be to do with any chemicals or anything?

Cigarette Smoke And Red Skin - A Link?

28 March 2013 - 01:49 PM

Hi guys,

I was wondering if someone had any information about maybe if there's a link between cigarette smoke and random breakouts?

Now, the reason I pose this question, is because since I've moved to France 6 months ago, I've broke out with these large red patches of skin always around my mouth,4 times now. They are very stubborn to fade, look fucking aweful and can sometimes feel quite rough. Coincidentally I've been living in a house with 4 people who all smoke ( I've never smoked in my life) and the only occurrences of said skin problem has been since being in this house.

Does cigarette smoke cause these problem any chance? (If you trawl through my posts, i've made a thread already of this problem with picture)

Slight Burning Sensation - No Obvious Causes?

25 March 2013 - 05:37 AM

Yesterday I developed some strange red patches between my eyes and either side of my mouth. They're not really aggravated and bright red, but you can tell they're slightly affected. It also feels like a bit of sun burn, but I've not been exposed to sun this weekend.

What kind of treatments can I use to calm and soothe these areas? Is E45 an ideal cream to use?

Thank you!

Has Anyone Developed A 'cleaning Ocd'?

06 March 2013 - 04:13 PM

So basically since in the last year or two, since I've moved to uni and become more independent, I feel like I've developed some kind of OCD because of my acne.

What I mean is, i'm becoming obsessive about hygeine and cleanliness about a lot of things.

I have a separate towel for my face than my body. I don't like using other peoples cups and glasses, I have my own. I carry handgel with me all the time (I'm a guy btw, yeh not very manly is it). Several things like this which I just cannot stop doing in my life for fear of anything that might make my acne worse.

Has this happened to anyone else? Or do you do things differently in your life because of acne?

Why Only In Certain Places?

05 February 2013 - 09:55 AM

Hi guys, not sure if this is the right place for this topic but I wasn't sure where else to post it.

Basically, for all the time I've suffered (must be about 4 years now, im 22 next week), 95% of my acne has been around my lower jaw, mouth and chin. And it's persistently in the same places all the time. Every so often I'll get  1 or 2 spots between my eyebrows. or im the crevices of my nose.

I was just wondering is there any kind of medical links as to why one would get acne only in one area?
