#3494265 Desperate! Does Anyone Have Similar Acne To Me? (Pictures)

Posted by the uphill battle on 29 August 2015 - 06:33 PM

Just wanted to say hang in there! Even though I haven't personally taken Accutane, I have known people who have and had AMAZING results. Keep your eye on the prize! If I were you, I would go on Youtube and watch videos of folks who are currently in your shoes going through the process as well as videos of people who have completed treatment and have beautiful skin. It might be helpful in keeping a positive attitude and get you excited for what's to come.

Hold on just a little longer!

Take care xoxo

#3468538 What Type Of Acne Scarring Is This? And Will It Fade?

Posted by the uphill battle on 18 January 2015 - 11:57 PM

I'm sorry you're stuggling with scars. I can relate, I have my fair share. If it is just the hyperpigmentation you're concerned about then I would suggest using a topical with Hydroquinone. Products with glycolic acid have also been really effective for me as well as lactic acid chemical peels. Other than that, it takes time. I know how hard it is to see the redness everyday.. It feels like it's never going to go away. Good luck though, hope this was semi-helpful in the least!

#3466548 Need Help With My Boyfriend And Acne Insecurities Xc

Posted by the uphill battle on 04 January 2015 - 08:05 AM

I think it's important to do what is comfortable for you in this situation. I had a boyfriend in high school that brought up my acne quite a bit and it made me very insecure. He would be like, "what's that?" (Stupid question). After a couple months it was obvious that he liked to point out my flaws to intentionally make me feel ugly and unloveable so he could control me. He has probably matured into a full on wife beater by now!

Not to say that is your boyfriend in anyway, but again, do what is comfortable for you whether that is being transparent about your struggle/insecurities or saying it's a difficult topic for you to talk about. If he makes you feel badly for either of those, he is probably not mature and sensitive enough for you.

LOVED this Ted talk! Thank you so much, Jake for being vulnerable enough to share your story as well as another path acne sufferers can choose to take.

Theoretically, but I've been using it for the past year or so and I don't see any dramatic improvement.

#3314545 Do Girls Care About Acne? Tips For Guys With Acne

Posted by the uphill battle on 30 December 2012 - 09:33 PM

"So when a girl meets a guy who's insecure she goes "Next!" but when she meets a guy who is "confident" she stays interested. And then when later the guy says "You know, I act confident and all but a lot of the time I'm actually quite insecure" she goes "That's ok!". It just seems like a contradiction?"

Clearly, it is not that black and white. A girl being interested or not will be influenced by many factors. Not to mention the fact that many assumptions and conclusions are made in the beginning stages of a developing relationship. As I stated earlier, I was speaking from my point of view only and I just simply wanted to illustrate that confidence is attractive. However, regardless of that, obviously we are all human and have flaws. Being aware of such flaws or even insecure about them is a pretty common experience. It is merely when such flaws begin to take over one's life that they may become less appealing.

#3314130 Do Girls Care About Acne? Tips For Guys With Acne

Posted by the uphill battle on 28 December 2012 - 11:23 PM

I have dated guys with acne and never thought twice about it. Though, I do agree with nakedsmurf that girls who have skin problems are probably more accepting of guys with skin problems, so I can't speak from a been-perflectly-clear-my-whole-life point of view. However, my younger sister who was blessed with beautiful skin (I got the shitty genes, of course) dated a guy with pretty bad acne and that did not stop her from eventually marrying him. I know that for us, a guy's confidence, personality, chivalry, humor and thoughtfulness far outweigh any concern of skin issues. I can't stress enough how far confidence can take you! The quickest way to turn a girl off would be crippling insecurity, but there is nothing wrong with having some transparency with the issue if you reach a point in your relationship where you can speak honestly about such concerns. I think most significant others would be surprised by the insecurities and not see the issue as magnified as we often view things about ourselves. And of course, if they're worth your time, they will be loving and supportive about it all. Anyhoo, my two cents!

#3289393 Proactive's New Bb Cream Make-Up.....

Posted by the uphill battle on 24 September 2012 - 04:09 PM

So the amazing, money hungry maker's of Proactive now created a makeup! Yay!!! ....Not. I think Proactive is such an awful product that preys on desperate, vulnerable acne sufferers. I can't help but think Proactive's new makeup formula is intentionally pore clogging to influence consumers to buy more of their acne products. I'm jaded.

#3277180 Proactive Parody..finally!

Posted by the uphill battle on 15 August 2012 - 10:32 PM

I've hated the Proactive commercials for what seems like forever now.. Such obvious marketing tactics to manipulate vulnerable acne-sufferers and just a God awful product. I'm just glad somebody finally made fun of them.

Ahhhh, I'm sorry. I got a huge one under my eyebrow that left a nasty mark. I was so pissed! The skin around my eyes should never have acne.. so lame. You think some parts of our face are safe from acne and then BOOM.
