22 January 2013 - 10:13 AM

i seem to have developed these extremley tiny little bumps on my chin and along my jawline. someone described pf as skin feeling like sandpaper, which mine does. you cant see the bumps though, they are soo tiny, i can just feel them when i touch my face. Does this sound like to pf to anyone? I know people say mostly appears on back, chest neck, but this is along my jaw line, its definatley not normal acne.  cant figure out whats going on with my skin. can someone PLEASE write back with a little more detailed info on pf, pics, descrtiptions, anything?

one more question, can a doc test for something like pf or seb derm, like a swab test or something, wondering if it can be accuratley diagnosed, i feel like my derm never even takes a close look at my skin, so irritating...

Any Thoughts On Cerave Pm?

10 January 2013 - 10:34 AM

I have pretty sensitive skin, dry and tight feeling, and acne prone.( and possibly mild rosecea)  Ive never had any of these problems before,  I did quite a bit of damage to my skin by misusing tretinoin and salcyllic scrub and am left with skin that is a mess. So depressing... My derm reccomended cerave pm lotion. Ive read great reviews but also seems like some people have adverse reactions to it. The derm said some peoples skin cant the niacinamides in it. This could be the thing to really help my skin, but im too afraid to try it!!!  Has anyone had any luck with it? Love to hear some reviews. Also wondering if the cerave line really helps restore the acid mantle layer? Also can the acid mantle layer be permanantly damaged?  Please Please respond if you ANY info on this! Thanks!

Caveman Method, Super Dry? Damaged Acid Mantle Layer (Please Read And Respond)

10 January 2013 - 10:19 AM

Hello everyone, so I think i damaged my skin pretty bad by misusing salsylic acid srub and tretinoin cream. Since then my skin has been a mess, and intolerable to the 2 basic cleanser and moisterizers ive been using for the past 10 years. Ive decided to try the caveman method, no washing (not even with water) and no moisterizer. Im on day three and my skin actually looks like its improving, no new pimples and the existing ones are going down. However my skin feels pretty tight and dry, no flaking or anything, it just feel really tight. Is this normal? I would have thought there would be some oil buildup after no washing for 3 days, but theres really not. My question is: is it possible to permanatly damage the acid mantle layer? Im worried thats what I did by misusing topicals. Ive always had oily skin and my now skin feel really tight and uncomfortable. Also wondering, are you supossed to do the cave man method short term until your skin begins healing or is this a long term thing? I cant imagine never washing my face again. I wanted to try it for awhile and eventually slowing begin bringing a gentle cleanser back into my regimin. Please respond with any info or input!!!!!!!

Tretinoin Induced Rosecea? Please Help

19 December 2012 - 12:08 PM

About 4 weeks ago I accidently applied a small amout of skin beaching cream to my face thinking it was the tretinoin I had began using a month earlier, I immediatley realized my mistake and used a nutregena salicylic acid scrub pretty roughly to try to remove all the cream. I then waited about 45 min and applied the tretinoin. I was fine for about a couple of weeks but toward the end of the second week I notice alot of flushing on my face where I scrubbed it. Ive been using the most gentle Purpose brand lotion on my face for 10 years, and even that turns my face bright red now. In the sunlight you can distincly tell where I scrubbed my face, my chin and nose and above my lip is a normal flesh tone and my cheeks where I scrubbed just look kind of raw. My face flushes everytime I wash it now and apply lotion. I havent used any acne medication or makeup since I did this, Im not noticing any improvements and Im worried that I gave myself rosecea? Is this possible? Im wondering if this is permanent or if I just damaged my skin pretty bad and need a few months to heal. Please respond if anyone has any advice or similar experience. Ive been so depressed since this.
