Oily Skin And Multivitamin?

18 February 2015 - 07:21 AM

Has anyone had any kind of success taking a multivitamin and reducing oil on their face?

To me is sounds like it wouldn't do anything but I've tried so many other things that I might as well give this a go.

I'm picking up Centrum today and will take one every day. The only thing that has me worried is that it contains B vitamins and I've read some people break out from them.

[Picture] Excessively Oily Skin And Large Pores

16 February 2015 - 07:40 AM

Hi everyone,

This is what my face currently looks like:

My problems are:

Excessively oily skin
Very large pores

I had been on Differin for 3 months which did nothing and then I moved on to Isotrex (another retinoid which is the topical form of accutane).

I have been on Isotrex nearly 4 months now and it has made my skin a fraction smoother and helps to stop pimples before they form. Other than that I am still left with the symptoms above.

Could anyone please give me some advice on what to try next? I don't want to go with oral accutane as I've heard some horror stories which has put me off.

What I really want is something that will stop all this oiliness. I believe this is the route of my problem and if I can control it everything else will get better.

I know it may look mild compared to many but I have persisted with this problem for 8 years now and I am really trying to find a solution.

Any help would be very much appreciated, thank you.

Isotretinoin Gel (Isotex)

14 January 2015 - 03:19 PM

I've been on Isotrex (isotretinoin gel) which is a topical form of accutane for 2 months and it is really good at drying out spots but the problems I mainly have are:

  • blotchy skin
  • large pores
  • blackheads
  • oily skin

It hasn't really done anything for these things. I have been on it for two months applying it every night.

Has anyone else tried this and if so did you get good results?

Just Started Isotrex & Clindamycin

05 November 2014 - 05:02 PM

Hi everyone,

I've just started Isotrex gel (0.05%) and Dalacin T (clindamycin topical lotion).

Has anyone had results with this combination or either topical treatments?

I am going to give it 3 months but I heard that the IB can be pretty bad. I was also on Differin 0.1% for 3 months however my skin stayed exactly the same so I have moved on to this.

Even though the Isotrex can be closely related to accutane would it mean that I would receive lesser side effects due to it only being topical and not oral?

Since I forgot to ask my derm, how do I go about using both?

Do I put on the Isotrex first then put on the clindamycin right after at night?

It didn't really go on too well this evening.

Thank you.

On Differin 0.1% For 3 Months, Should I Change To 0.3%

18 October 2014 - 08:34 AM

So I've been on Differin 0.1% for 3 months but I've seen no change.

Here is a picture of my skin: http://i.imgur.com/z9mYDmV.jpg

Should I ask my dermatologist to change to 0.3%. Will it make a difference?

I don't want to try accutane because of the potential side effects.
