Retinoids And The Sun?

15 April 2015 - 01:22 PM

Hey everyone,

I am currently on Isotrex which is the topical form of accutane. It is a retinoid.

I am going away to italy in the summer but I was wondering what I should do to prepare.

I understand that you are not meant to be in the sun while using retinoids so what is the correct procedure to do?

If anyone could help that would be great, thanks.

Anyone Tried Sulphate Free Or Beer Shampoo?

06 April 2015 - 08:19 AM

As the title says, has anyone tried sulphate free shampoo?

I have just ordered some beer shampoo called Broo which has no sulphates.

Hopefully, it will be better for my skin since it is very sensitive.

Oily Skin And Multivitamin?

18 February 2015 - 07:21 AM

Has anyone had any kind of success taking a multivitamin and reducing oil on their face?

To me is sounds like it wouldn't do anything but I've tried so many other things that I might as well give this a go.

I'm picking up Centrum today and will take one every day. The only thing that has me worried is that it contains B vitamins and I've read some people break out from them.

[Picture] Excessively Oily Skin And Large Pores

16 February 2015 - 07:40 AM

Hi everyone,

This is what my face currently looks like:

My problems are:

Excessively oily skin
Very large pores

I had been on Differin for 3 months which did nothing and then I moved on to Isotrex (another retinoid which is the topical form of accutane).

I have been on Isotrex nearly 4 months now and it has made my skin a fraction smoother and helps to stop pimples before they form. Other than that I am still left with the symptoms above.

Could anyone please give me some advice on what to try next? I don't want to go with oral accutane as I've heard some horror stories which has put me off.

What I really want is something that will stop all this oiliness. I believe this is the route of my problem and if I can control it everything else will get better.

I know it may look mild compared to many but I have persisted with this problem for 8 years now and I am really trying to find a solution.

Any help would be very much appreciated, thank you.

Isotretinoin Gel (Isotex)

14 January 2015 - 03:19 PM

I've been on Isotrex (isotretinoin gel) which is a topical form of accutane for 2 months and it is really good at drying out spots but the problems I mainly have are:

  • blotchy skin
  • large pores
  • blackheads
  • oily skin

It hasn't really done anything for these things. I have been on it for two months applying it every night.

Has anyone else tried this and if so did you get good results?
