In Topic: 5 Day Water Fast Experiment!

15 April 2015 - 08:06 AM

Hello everybody! :) So today I started my water fast. Before that I was on a strict paleo diet for 11 days and it didn't help my acne. Anyways I'll keep being on a paleo diet after this fast... If you have some experience with fasting please feel free to share it here!

Day 1  - started the fast about 16 hours ago. Still have inflammation and those bumps are still itchy and painful. Will see what happens next and keep you posted! :)

Just my opinion and because I've been dealing with acne for a long time and all these different experients to clear skin. Also because I don't like people abusing their health/body. I don't see how fasting is going to help you. Your body needs the right nutrients to function properly, if you're only consuming water, you're starving your body of basic needs. Eat a healthy diet, drink plenty of water and exercise. Unless you have actual food allergies something like this is not going to help. The rest is up to your skin care regimen. If you want to get technical, I could actually explain more reason as to why a water fast could cause even more acne because it's too much stress on the body, especially the heart, which will in turn raise cortisol levels in the body which can result in even more breakouts.

In Topic: Serious Help Please :( Acne Scars

15 April 2015 - 07:56 AM

well....first time poster...been looking for help for a long time and this is my last resort.

Some back ground info:

I'm 18 and had mild/bad acne. Mostly on the forehead and checks. Now my forehead is fine. Perfect. Nothings there. I still get 1-2 occasional pimples on my checks now and then.

Problem: The acne has left these dark spots/scars on my face which have been there for about 1-2 years.

I have been using glyocialic acid peel 30% - and dont worry i've been doing it saftly and following the instructions.

Will this have any help?

Also, today i did the peel for the 3rd time and one of my spots started to bleed by its self during the peel. Will this leave a scar/ permanent spot?

Using a glycolic peel should definitely help fade the scars over time. Keep doing that 1-2 times a week. As for the one that started to bleed, maybe it wasn't just a dark spot but a scab of post acne? Either way, another thing that you should be using daily is sunscreen, this will help the spots from darkening and when using peels your skin will be more sensitive to the sun. Makes sure it has an spf  of 30.

ugh I would disinfect a needle with rubbing alcohol then pop the whitehead to get that stuff out. if you are planning on going to the doctor in the morning they may just pop it for you though

In Topic: Wedding Dress Worries

You could try a dress where the sleeves and neckline are all lacy, like how Kate Middleton wore. That way it's still pretty revealing without anyone being able to see the scarring. As for the makeup, when I was a bridesmaid one of the girls did airbrush makeup on all of us and it lasted all day. You'll probably want to bring a concealer with you and a powder compact, for your skin anyways. You can go to places like sephora and ulta and get samples (or ask them to do your makeup in the store) to test it out to see what will work best for your skin.

In Topic: Gentle Cleanser Or Acne Cleanser?

I used to use an acne cleanser but it was making my skin too dry, especially around my eyes, but now I use a gentle non-soap cleanser. Salicylic acid also gives me white heads for some reason. I've been this this garnier smoothing cream cleanser http://www.garnierus...m-Cleanser.aspx
