Water benefits your body in countless ways and is one of the best ways of keeping your body feeling, performing and looking well - if you drink the recommended 2.5 litres a day you'll feel focused, energetic , your skin will look supple and your eyes will sparkle . If a dehydrated body receives an extra 600ml /1 pint of water, it will repay you by giving you an extra 20 per cent of energy! When drinking water with a meal, it will help you to digest food more efficiently and assist the bowel in getting rid of waste products.

I always thought this was the other way around, i.e. not drinking water during, just before, or just after mealtime, was better for digestion (and thus being linked with aiding against acne etc etc).

Which is which?

By the way, for those that don't know, or those in the US etc etc, ITV (from whose website this was taken) is one of the UK's biggest TV networks, so I'd have thought the information would've been fairly credible - which just makes this all the more confusing.

Is there anyone who actually knows the answer to this please?

i orginally thought that it's best not to drink anything within 1/2 hour before a meal and 2 hours after a meal. i don't think that's true anymore... i think drinking WITH a meal is not good... but shortly before and shortly after is not bad.

from http://www.mercola.c...yle_changes.htm

"Lesson 3: Don't drink too much water during your meals.

Don't drink fluids with your meals if possible, as this will dilute the gastric digestive contents and make it more difficult to digest. A few sips of water during the meal would be fine."

from http://www.mercola.c..._stillbirth.htm

"It is also wise to drink either before your meal or after, not during the meal."

i don't know...i trust dr. mercola.

I have definitely noticed a positive change in my digestion now that I don't guzzle water with my meals.
