I have no idea what to do about this horrible acne on my butt. I rarely ever get pimples anywhere else. My face is clear except for like a small zit or two every week, but I get these disgusting, huge zits downstairs. I have about eight of them right now, and my face is perfectly clear. I have good hygiene and use clean and clear deep action cream, which seems to work for the rare facial break-outs. Can anybody help me out? What could possibly be wrong with me? It really hurts to sit down...

red cystic acne? is it all in one concentrated spot for the most part? I don't think it's acne, sounds more like a fungus or something

I recommend speaking with your doctor about this if its painful to sit down.

It's not all over, but it's not quite concentrated. Fungus? Even worse. How would I know if it were a fungus?

Sound like folliculitis to me. Folliculitis is an infection of the hair follicles-looks like acne, feels like acne, etc. Are you using a loofah or scubby cloth of some kind? Those are notorious for causing this kind of infection (a BF of mine got it in his pubic region that way). If it's folliculitis, the doc will prescibe short-course antibiotics, probably Keflex, and it'll clear up in no time. If it's fungus it'll clear with Lotramin AF, Monistat-7, any anti-fungal med. You could try that first if you want to rule it out b4 you go the doc. Just get the Lotramin or Monistat (get a generic though, save some dough) and rub it on once in the AM and once in the PM. Wash your hands after so you don't risk spreading it. If you don't see any improvement in 2 days, go to the doc.

Hope this helps,

Ayla

I'm not sure how you could tell unless you go to your doc/derm, but that seems kinda embarrassing

I said that cause I remember reading once here or somewhere of a disease/fungus/something on the chest that is a lot of the times mistaken for acne. it would mostly be on one side, and only a little on the other. I can't remember more than that, and I'm not going to get you worried about something that I have no power to determine/diagnose

I'd imagine if it was fungus/infection it would be easier to get rid of then acne

Might be if you wear thong undies and your jeans rub up against your butt.
On top of it jeans usually don't get washed everyday..
I'd suggest trying acne scrub and acne lotion on your butt everyday
and trying to wear cotton undies that cover most of your butt.

I don't wear thongs, so that couldn't be it. I've done some research about folliculitis and it seems that that is most probably what I have. I know that the best idea would be to go to the doctor, but that would be EMBARRASSING. Is there any good way I can treat it with non-prescription items?

Hey there,

You could try washing the area with an antibacterial soap (something with triclosan)-Dial liquid would be a good choice-twice daily, then swab the area with a Betadine solution. You'll need to re-apply the Betadine solution every 3-4 hours, as the antimicrobial activity wears off.

Betadine is a brand name, and therefore over priced. I would purchase a generic POVIDONE-IODINE SOLUTION, 10%-walmart sells one for about $8.

Make sure you wear cotton panties, and avoid fabric softener. Don't wear tight pants either.

In the evenings you may wish to soak in a hot (not too hot, just comfortable) bath before washing and applying Betadine. Hot water kills bacteria to some degree, and encourages drainage.

If you don't see noticeable improvement within 3 days, you really need to see the doctor. I know it's embarassing-but trust me they see much more disturbing things. Probably nothing you did caused this, shit happens wink.gif

Good Luck!

Maybe you could try not wearing any underwear at night, to give your skin a breather?
Face:
-Paula's Choice Skin Recovery Cleanser
-Paula's Choice 2% BHA lotion
-small amount of moisturizer on any dry areas (Cetaphil lotion or Complex 15)
-Elta MD UV Physical SPF 41

Body acne, at night only:
-Aveeno Skin Relief Unscented body wash
-Dan's Acne.org BP gel
-Cetaphil SPF15 Moisturizer (no I don't care about the SPF since it's at night, this is
just the best one I've found), then sleep in a white t-shirt.
-Hair care to prevent body acne - use lightest products possible such as
Free&Clear Shampoo and conditioners with water soluble silicones only, always do first THEN use body wash after to make sure none stays on skin.

Results: Clear skin!!!

get an ass transplant user posted image im kidding with you. I would recommend you put b.p on the pimples, let them dry n till u see that u have no butt breakin out, go n get a peel or use salicylic acid with a high percentage. That should get rid of the dark spots left by b.p

ROFLMAO
It's anal sex free over here.

I got some lever 2000 soap, and it works pretty well. I would recommend getting some tougher antibiotic stuff besides soap because it's taking forever. Listen to Ayla, not xxGoody317xx.

Really? They actually let people with pimples on their butts act as pornstars?
And yes, I'm sure that I have not been up to anything nasty.

Just try neutrogena acne body scrub every day
and then put on 10% benzoly peroxide or clean&clear dual action acne lotion.

Actually never heard of acne on the butt. I used to get an occasional reddish bump on me butt when i was younger, didnt think it was acne but it went away, it always occured to me that it was a rash but your seems different. You should see a docter.
