Back story first:

Developed acne at age 16. Started Dan's regimen minus the moisturizer and face wash at around age 20-21. I'm 23 now. The regimen completely withheld breakouts for me. I suffered from occasional cystic pimples and took FOREVER to heal. I began eating healthy at age 21. Exercise at the same time. I was technically acne free for quite some time. I was happy. Except.. I felt trapped by the regimen. So during the last year of me being on the regimen I began chipping away at the amount I used. Didn't apply it to my forehead of chin. No breakouts--clear skin on those areas. This October I began to apply it only in the morning. That lasted a month. Still, no breakouts and my skin felt free. November 1st I stopped completely. The whole month no breakouts, everything was fine. December 1st my chin became inflamed and erupted literally in tiny whiteheads that hurt. The pain was actually unbearable but somehow I persisted without touching the BP. As the month went on I noticed bumps forming around my nose. Instantly I got scared but I still said no to the BP as if it were my enemy. Eventually in the middle of the month one bump turned into two which multiplied again and again. My T spot became a hotspot for acne. It's still there now. I imagined it was my skin detoxing from it being addicted to the BP but I doubt that's true because of how long of a weening process I took while coming off the BP.

So I am here now in need off some advice. My skin FEELS fresh and free and not suffocated by the BP.. but the acne is back. And I worry it will travel away from my T zone soon.

So my question is; should I slowly go back onto the BP? Apply it lightly at night for a month and then if no improvements occur apply it in the morning as well? I really wish I didn't have to go back on the regimen because just last month I was so excited by the possibility of me going out in the sun this summer without worrying about burning instantaneously.

Man, I got bummed to read that you had that happen after achieving clear skin! :/ There's nothing quite like experiencing what the clear-skinned people feel like before the nightmare returns and the acne comes back. It's happened to me quite a few times. Always makes me want to cry.

I personally haven't found anything that works other than BP, but have you thought about going the accutane route?

It's not fun to feel like a slave to your skin but once acne has you it rarely lets you go without some sort of work on your part. You just have to keep working at it. Unless you're one of the lucky ones who can get clear and stay clear on accutane. Personally I would start on the Regimen again.

i hope it gets better!
