Acne Toners With Alcohol Work Better!?

4 posts in this topic

Need some suggestions here guys!!

I've been using Paula's choice 2% BHA Liquid (extra strength) for about 2 months now, and found it hasn't given me any results at all. I only have some clogged pores/blackheads to clear up and its done nothing..and to be honest seems to have clogged me further. NONE of my products contribute to pore clogging so thats not it either! When I used to use Neostrata's toning solution level 2 with 2% bha and 10% aha, I had none of these issues! I switched because I figured no alcohol in the toner would be better. I was wrong I guess, I'm starting to think acne toners with alcohol truly do work better!! Can anyone give me their experiences with toners with alcohol, or without? And what kinds do you guys use?! I'm thinking of going back to Neostrata.

Thanks!

If it worked, I'd go back to it. Some people's skin also doesn't do much with SA. You may want to try using glycolic (AHA) exclusively. Mario Badescu has an AHA toner.

No regimen is one-size-fits-all. You are unique and so is your skin.

AM

Black soap - Lumiplexion Salicylic Acid ~ Lumiplexion SPF 30 ~ Lumiplexion moisturizer

PM

Black soap ~ Lumiplexion Glycolic Acid 12% (3-4x week) ~ Lumiplexion Hydroquinone 1-2x week

Lumiplexion enzyme mask / sulfur mask / moisturizing mask 1-2 week as needed

I generally prefer things without alcohol, but if a product WITH alcohol works better, then just keep using that! I use the Neostrata toner as well :)
