So I recently was told by a makeup consultant at a drugstore (was looking for concealer for my scars), that I have something called "open pores".
I did a bit of research, and it looks like open pores are like tiny ice pick scars. It is obvious that tight pores are more desirable, and I am assuming the size of the pores is another genetically determined trait.
Is there anything realistic I can attempt to reduce my pore size? My skin overall other than the scarred areas isn't that bad, but I want to try to close any open pores I do have. Are they basically equivalent to scars or can they be tightened?

your options include a facelift and thats about it - theyre not scarring so they cant be treated in the same way as scarring because its your skins natural state - scars arent. Tiny bit of foundation blended in circular motions with a brush makes a HUGE difference though.
Any product that shrinks your pores phyiscally tightens your skin by drying it out - make what you will from that, but to me thats not an improvement.

Just use smashbox photofish primer...That is all you need.

Salicylic acid can help "clean" them out and shrink them a bit. Retin - A is also a possible option if you wanna go a bit more aggressive.

Botox. I'm thinking about getting botox done and then getting laser to help correct it. I do believe it's a form of scarring and can be corrected, but not in a traditional way. I've seen improvement over the years but I still have "open pores" too.

Retin a did nothing for my large open pores.. I am thinking about going to a dr and getting a peel done.
