Well I don't believe it is 100% genetic thing to grow out of acne. My mom and dad both had acne in their teens and outgrew it about when they were 20. I got acne when I was 13 and I still have acne and now I'm 30. My two brothers never had any acne. There's so many different reasons for acne, I think my biggest acne causing effect is my oily skin. I seem to be the only one in my family tree who has oily skin, lucky me.

And BP can't just stop working suddenly, maybe your skin is becoming more sensitive and you just get irritation acne, this happened to me years ago when I used that poison. If I applied BP once a day I would get more acne, after reducing it to every other day I was clear.

It is mainly all genetics.

Yes, keep saying that, hope it becomes true. Like I said, my mom and dad outgrew acne young, I didn't and my two brothers never got any acne and they are adults now. So if u look the evidence, it's all over the place, genetics are purely random when it comes to acne, u can't predict it by looking your dad's past.

Yes I can lmfao. My dad had way worse acne than me, my moms family never had acne. talking to several doctors, they all say that I will outgrow it. It's already starting to go away. Lol. Most people do in fact outgrow their acne, just because you haven't doesn't give you the right to make others feel down about it never going away. Genetics is your best guess on how your situation will turn out.
Like I said, moms side of the family has never had a break out, dads acne was grown out of by 23. Genetics have a funny way of working, but as I'm exiting puberty now it's going away. So please, don't rain on my parade or anyone else's dude :)

I was not talking about young women like the very early 20s. But the women that were passing their middle 20/ early 30s and still have acne, often did not get rid of it. My dad grew out of his acne in his 20s ( if he stays away from pork, his skin is clear). My acne became definately less severe at this age, but it never stopped completely due to the hormone cycles. It seems easier for males to outgrow acne completely, than for women. Although many get rid of their permanent and severe acne, they keep breaking out during ovulation or their period. With growing out of it, I mean having a completely clear skin, no matter what time of the month.

Wow, it really shows that your age is about 18, really mature. U can't predict what happens in the future from looking your family history and it doesn't matter what doctors say, my doctors told me too when I was 16 that you will outgrow acne soon, never happened. You really have some mental issues going on when you attack someone telling their story. If you believe you will grow out of acne, good for you, hope it happens.

BTW: as acne is hormone triggered, you cannot compare female acne to male acne when it comes to adult acne, I think it is obvious why. And this also applies to father/ daughter comparisons. It does not work, because your dad very likely did not have a menstrual cycle. But it is still possible you completely outgrow it, because you are still very young ( which I also take as an excuse for your harsh and impolite behaviour btw)
But I am a " few" days older that you, and I can tell you from the experience of all my female friends : if it is hormonal acne, it will wax and wane, but never really disappears if you do not treat it. Be it with hormones, lifestyle or topicals.
I am not saying this to be mean or discouraging, but because I am honest. Noone benefits from being told that it will soon be over without doing anything against it, while the skin becomes worse and worse.
Life is about what happens, not about what we want to happen.

Yup, this lady knows her stuff. And even if you see adults in public with clear skin it doesn't mean that they don't have acne. Maybe they use BP which keeps them clear but IF they stop using BP or what ever they do to treat their skin they will get acne. If you saw me in the street you would not never believe that I suffer from acne because I have found skin care regimen that keeps me clear, if I stop using skin care products my face is covered in acne.

I'm sorry, but where I'm from, women I've spoken too their acne has completely went away after their teen years. Acne doesn't continue going on, it does disappear and I can definitely look to my dad for the answer. Acne is genetic, I obviously got the acne gene from him. I have mild teenage acne, all acne is hormonal too. Acne definitely goes away. And it will go away for me :) since mine is so mild and is because of hormonal imbalances from puberty. No one else in my family suffers from adult acne. So I'm sorry that your case didn't favor for any of you, but you have no right to tell someone that they cannot go after their family history because I definitely can.

Ive spoken to sooo many women who have had acne as teenagers and completely outgrew it. And take that into matters that I don't hardly seen any women with it all. So you keep believing what you read over the Internet, it's all bs anyways lol.

.... You treat it until it subsides on it's own. As I've said again and again, I picked up the gene from my father. I can definitely go by hereditary factors. My mother never once suffered from a breakout. Being pregnant twice, on and off birth control pills. So please, think clearly before you try and tell me it won't go away. I know it will.

We are not talking abou teenage acne. Of course you can grow out of this kind of acne. But if if your severe female acne continues into your 20s, chances are bad to grow completely out of it soon. The reasons for this fact can be found in the various DHT and hormone threads, e.g. by member green gables. There 's no single " acne gene" . The basics of hormone fluctuations and their influence on acne in men and women cannot be compared. There's tons of information about hormones and genetics of acne available all over the forum and the internet ( pubmed is a good source for relieable information), if you are interested in true scientific facts.

Well then I hope that I outgrow it then, since no one in my family suffers into adulthood with it.

Well yes, your young age and this fact makes your chances quite good to grow out of it. For my part I discovered a change in my acne when I gew out of my teenager acne and into adult acne. Suddenly the pimples were located only around my mouth and jawline and were obiously linked to my menstrual cycle and more cystic. My forehead was covered in zits during teenager acne, but absolutely clear since my early twenties.

WOW, that is exactly what happened to me too and I'm male. When I was teen I had horrible acne on my forehead and nose and now I don't get acne on my forehead and nose unless I really irritate those areas. My trouble areas now are mainly sides of my jaw/mouth and inner cheek areas..
