Spiro For 2Nd Time

spiro aldactone hormonal acne

Best Answer Valerie44, 22 April 2014 - 07:14 PM

Awesome news CarpeMomentum!!!! My doctor wouldn't up my dose since he seems to think my skin is looking great at the 50 dose. Im not so sure, even tho im clear right now I always test how well the Spiro is coming along when I get close to my period, that's when I usually break out like crazy, I must say I only got one cyst this past menstrual cycle compared to the 3 or 4 I would normally get so that is progress :)  Im happy to hear your doing well and praying we all keep on the road to clear skin !!!!

Maria, what dose of the Spiro are you taking now?

Some time ago i found out that chocolate praline doesn't break me out. I bought some, but not the same, "safe" brand. I believe that's what caused the pustules on my nose and possibly a papule that i think is growing on my cheek. My forehead is quit smooth again, thanks to b.p..

I seem to break out every 3 weeks (i mean relatively big papules), there is an old redness that is now swollen but not yet painful. Most likely just a matter of time. And again, sesame is the suspect.

Yeap, quite red and painful now..

It is the probably the biggest breakout of 2014. I tried to squeeze it but without success.. it's going to be there for a lot of time..

It's almost flat now but as a result i have one more big mark.. Yesterday i tried more dairy than the usual and i picked a clogged pore that i haven't noticed earlier.. it's inflaming now (i think it was already too late for picking) and actually the majority of my big red marks are due to inflamed clogged pores so it can be pretty big.. I am icing it right now.. i hope this will hold it back.. i hate my skin, i hate myself...

i tried to think what i have changed the previous 2 weeks.
I stopped using bp every night, applying it every other night instead.
I started using make up.
I bought an "all skin types" exfoliating cream.
My diet.

My sister told me that she thinks the exfoliator breaks her out, indeed i have used it 3 times and every time i broke out after 1-2 days.
Using bp less frequently and make up could be too much for my skin.
My diet involved triggers but somehow i think it wasn't the reason for my break outs

Hey. I've been lurking around your log for a while now. Took a while to read it all. You seem like overall you've been improving and you're just having a setback lately.
So did you figure out what caused your last break out? How are you feeling now?

Hi, thanks for your interest! I think it was a combination of a new scrub that i bought, scrubs always break me out but this was supposed to be quit gentle, suitable for all skin types and it has ingredients that help reduce discoloration, make up + reduced b.p. that created a few clogged pores. I feel good these days, i found out a full cup of yogurt doesn't affect my skin though i am afraid to try other types of dairy.. i am happy because at least i can control it but not as happy as i used to be because when i try something new i am constantly afraid of the consequences on my skin..
Edit: let's just forget what i said about yogurt, i just saw a new big papule on my cheekbone.. damn..

It sucks to have to worry about what consequences food you like to eat will have on your skin. I love dairy, but it breaks me out. I can safely eat up to three tablespoons of plain greek yoghurt but that's it, and sometimes... i just want to mozzarella. That used to be my favourite thing in the world.

Happy to hear you're feeling good these days :) And don't worry, you'll eventually find skin care products that don't irritate your skin. It's frustrating sometimes how irritating things that say they're extra gentle or made for sensitive skin can be.

Yes it's awful... especially when you are with others during a party or something and everything they have is filled with milk. Today i decided to try again 100 mg of spiro though i have a feeling it is still too early.. but easter vacations is the best period for any break out to have time to fade if it proves to be still too much for my weight.

Hi beautiful Maria :) I just wanted to check in and see how you are doing. I'm about to up my dose to 100mg next week when I finally see my dermatologist after 6 months. I'm so worried about another IB I cant take anymore. The 50mg of Spiro seems to be working but not as good as I thought it should be by now. I'm still getting a cyst here and there. I've also been cutting out foods that I thought I could finally eat again like chocolate grrrr. Well, I hope the 100mg will work better for you, keep me posted on your progress :)

Thanks to ice and cortisone cream my papule came to a head and is healing now.. i tried to pick a clogged pore but i don't think i did it right, i hope it won't inflame.. at least if it does it will change nothing because i already cover my cheeks with my hair to hide my recent breakouts..

Hey there!  I upped my dose from 50 to 75mg about 2 weeks ago, still in conjunction with Yasmin. So I am at around 100mg and seeing a bit less oil.  I was SO fearful of another IB.  I did experience a small one, but honestly NOTHING like the first time at all.  It's already cleared.  I also did have a migraine followed by headache for a week and 1/2.  Drink lots of water and just be ready to deal with whatever comes.  a week or 2 of breakouts is so much easier to deal with then continual.  I wish you continued improvement!!

It's the third day and so far so good, no unusual break outs.. As i washed my face and took a closer look at my picked clogged pore it was a little swollen and i saw something white. Indeed when i squeezed it a white fluid gushed, followed by the hard white sebum that was originally trapped in the clogged pore. I hope it is going to heal completely without further inflammation now..

10 days of 100 mg. Excluding a clogged pore that turned into a pustule, i had no actual break out. Just 2-3 small red patches that disappear later. I am in the middle of my cycle but i havesome bleeding.

I forgot b.p. for a few days and my forehead feels quite bumpy. There are a couple of red spots and a small papule on my cheeks/chin. I believe that i have to accept at this point that my skin is most likely never going to respond the way it did before, something changed.. i am thinking about adding progesterone cream but i am also afraid of messing up my hormones again.. what is worse than a small papule is a huge papule or nodule.
