Spiro For 2Nd Time

spiro aldactone hormonal acne

Best Answer Valerie44, 22 April 2014 - 07:14 PM

Awesome news CarpeMomentum!!!! My doctor wouldn't up my dose since he seems to think my skin is looking great at the 50 dose. Im not so sure, even tho im clear right now I always test how well the Spiro is coming along when I get close to my period, that's when I usually break out like crazy, I must say I only got one cyst this past menstrual cycle compared to the 3 or 4 I would normally get so that is progress :)  Im happy to hear your doing well and praying we all keep on the road to clear skin !!!!

Maria, what dose of the Spiro are you taking now?

i had 2-3 papules these days, but very small.. I am under the impression that every time i use this make up, by the time i remove it i have one more comedone.. I'm thinking of using a topical retinoid but i am afraid of initial break out. I saw the professor so the most possible option is to stop using it for these days, Christmas break is very near anyway.

no major break outs for 10 days! But a lot of small papules, especially after a bit of bitter chocolate. Hmm i remember that dessert with milk chocolate that didn't break me out on 50 mg and i wonder..

I have a new papule today, it's more visible and bigger than the previous but still not that big.. my breakouts  are rarer (especially if i avoid dairy) and smaller than they used to be, much more easily covered by make up - though i usually don't use any. I am happy and hopeful that soon they 'll be completely controlled but there are always doubts n the back of my mind evey time i see something that wasn't there.

My breakouts are rarer, too, but I'm still getting a few here and there. This week alone, I got three new spots. :( But they're not all over my face-- just along the jawline-- and they're obviously hormonal (under the skin and painful). I hope you keep improving! I'm almost a month into using Spiro-- just 25mg a day, but also with Beyaz (which I've read-- is similar to about 25mg of Spiro). So, about 50mg a day.

Crossing my fingers for your continuous and consistent improvement!

Thanks smile.png I hope that our breakouts will be eliminated the following weeks. I can't wait for the moment i 'll be able to have cheese fearlessly again. I want to watch a movie this weekend but no nachos with cheese for me, just  popcorn.gif  tongue.png

Here i have a pic of my left cheek. The important parts are

1) the upper papule: it's almost 2 weeks old and i 've been using the bleaching creams since it was 4 days old - fully grown. It has a pinkish color while the two underneath that are 6 weeks old are reder.

2) my new papule is next to the hair. It's small and looks like a red mark, it's only slightly risen. The annoying thing about these is that i now get them almost every day for at least the past 3-4 days..

I couldn't resist and picked a whitehead that seemed to grow bigger.. Now i can only hope it will heal without inflammation.

My scale is stuck, i want to regain my weight to be on familiar ground again (previous dose) and make sure that my abnormal weight doesn't play a role on acne but i 've been able to gain what.. 1 kilo at most? I need about 6 more.

I watched the movie, it was great but acne won't let you be happy-when i came back home i noticed a clogged pore was bigger (not the one i picked yesterday, that's healing nicely) and you know what this means: a possibly very big breakout right under my lip corner. Icing again.. i 'll pick them all at Christmas break evil.gif

It was the hobbit, awesome indeed! Though i believe there will never be a movie as epic as lotr it was quite good.

I might try topical retinoids for comedones, i still have a tube of topical isotretinoin.. i am just waiting to run out of b.p. which helped but there is still room for improvement and it's so expensive.

I hope you won't have another breakout, i know it's frustrating when you think it's over but it's not.. We have to try to be optimistic and the time will come, soon. smile.png

I iced it a few times and put hydrocortisone cream on it.. once in a while wouldn't hurt (in fact it's the first time and possibly the last). It's the same size as yesterday but veeery painful. So i guess it may be in vain but then who knows!

This one has nothing to do with acne.. if you don't want to hear me grumble stop reading now!

It's the week before Christmas and i feel increasingly depressed.. of course the clogged pore contributed, but i felt so alone today.. besides my parents-sisters and my bf (who lives in another town) i have noone.. and i just wonder why i went to the cinema alone yesterday? Why none of my "friends" seem to stay by my side? I am an introvert person and i had (only) 2 close friends at university.. we were together every day during the lessons for 2-3 years, the clinical practice.. we watched movies, talked about boys (even none of us was very interested, i was already in a relationship, the house of the one was way too far to meet her friends and the other had a crush on someone who didn't like her), helped each other study for exams, one of them had acne as well and she finished accutane when i started spiro. And one day we graduated. After a few days i called her to ask a question about some procedures we had to make.. she didn't answer nor called back. I sent sms, then called again. As if she disappeared! I know she didn't, she is now doing her master in a different field. But i am wondering, how could she? We were friends for 3 years and she doesn't even answer the phone?? I had a male friend back on elementary school.. we hanged out until the age of 15, then we went to different schools and lost each other.. i contacted him a year ago.. we met a few times and then i sent an sms to meet again.. no response either! To be honest, he is a liar and that's not the best type of friend but i thought that at least him would value our friendship more than that..Wrong..

And then you surf the net and see what true friends are willing to do for each other.. and i wonder why the people i 've met wouldn't even pick up the phone when i call them..

Sorry for writting that, it has no place here i know..

These days i had one medium sized papule next to my ear and one of these small that last for a day or two and usually don't leave a mark. I have been eating bad lately but the ear thing is strange and rare place for a breakout and i hope it was caused by another reason..

One clogged pore and a papule that is right next to an old one, i can't really evaluate its size because their borders are merged but it seems medium.. not monster, thankfully. Oh i hate my skin..

Last week of an awful year! Nothing new today but i don't get it, why my breakouts (except clogged pores) are one next to another.. i have 4 in a square with no gap between them.

Oh when this holiday period ends i will make an apointment for chemical peeling, i hate to see hyperpigmentation and clogged pores- there are some new, i am so tired of them. Then i 'll start that isotretinoin gel and hopefully it will keep them away..

I picked a couple pores.. The 4 together look so huge... i hate my skin so much. I want to try things but i am so scared to do so.. because if i break out it will remain on my skin as a bump for weeks.

It seems a good day today, even though i am concerned about a cluster of breakouts near my ears the previous weeks.. I think it could be the mobile phone touching that area.. or that is what i hope.

I picked a total of 6 comedones and one of them inflamed. I used again the hydrocortisone cream and the next day it had a head so i squeezed it and now it's gone. I know we shouldn't pick them but if i don't these comedones will eventually become big inflamed papules.. if i pick them there is a possibility of actually causing the inflammation myself but i believe it's worth the risk since it was almost certain that every single one of them would inflame on its own some day. Hydrocortisone helps papules come to a head. I avoid using it but it's really helpful when it comes to papules, many of them never come to a head and the inflammation continues under the skin so it takes weeks for the papule to flatten. When it has a head and i squeeze it, it flattens the next day because the inflammatory material in the skin is removed. But i am very careful, i always disinfect my skin, use gloves, try to be gentle and remove all of it and then apply an antibiotic cream.
