Vitamins!

i take a good amount of vitamins everyday. they include:

Biotin- 1000mcg

Vitamin B-6- 100mg

Vitamin A- 8000IU

Vitamin C- 500 mg

Vitamin E-400IU

Chelated Zinc- 50mg

Fish Oil- 1000mg

They seem like they are doing their duties, but i would like to know when to take each vitamin and with what other vitamin would be a good combination together. I take the one biotin, 1 vitamin b-6 , and one vitamin c in the morning, then at night i take one fish oil, one chelated zinc, one vitamin E and A. I would like to know if i should change my routine or add more of each. Any feedback is welcome.

Are you taking the vitamins for your acne? and has it worked? I take niacinmide ( with Zinc and Folic Acid) and my acne is gone.

Yes it is for acne. I have been taking these vitamins for about a month and i can say that i have seen a difference so far, but like i said its only been a month and i have seen some improvement. I want to see how much clearer ill be in a couple of months. I heard zinc was good for acne so i picked some up, its actually working!

Are you taking the vitamins for your acne? and has it worked? I take niacinmide ( with Zinc and Folic Acid) and my acne is gone.

I would love to know how many mgs you take of each, and how long dit it take to get clear? Also, what was your skin like before? I'm on the same supps + vitamin C and B6 but lately it has not gone well.

The niacinmide I take is prescribed by my derm. I believe it's 700 mg ( I could be totally wrong). I haven't taken it in a few weeks because I'm too lazy to drop off my prescription but when my derm prescribed me my vitamins I had no pimples at the time but my face would still break out. But once I started taking them, I'd say it took like 2 to 3 months for me to see my face consistently clear.

Oh and I forgot to add! The vitamins she prescribes me is niacinamide and it has folic acid, cupric acid and zinc oxide in it. I don't take it separately. She actually just prescribed me something else cause she had a coupon for it so its almost free. I hope it still works though.

You do realize that doctors and healthcare professionals take under 10 hours of seminars in "nutrition" in med school? Most of them are completely oblivious to the effectiveness of many vitamins and supplements and ground their beliefs in the insufficient RDA levels. RDA, the amount of a vitamin needed to keep you from dying, but not put you in optimum health.

Yep. Useless. Although if you are taking prescription drugs or have a known ailment you should consult them about any issues. And do your own research. And if you are taking prescription drugs, you should reconsider, know all the negative consequences and do your own research for better solutions. Food is the best medicine, along with sleep, laughter, active lifestyle, etc.

Status: Clear after 30 years. Wow, I guess it's been 6 years, now.

[ Story: Severe Acne since I was 10. 10+ years of Dermatologists, Antibiotics, topicals and ACCUTANE did nothing. Discovered oranges triggered the worst of my cystic acne = about 70% improvement. Tried some nutrient supplements like B-complex with zinc and C, saw palmetto and a BHA like the aspirin mask = more improvement, a lot less oily. Then, Diet changes = Clear.

Regimen: Anti-inflammatory, nutrient dense, blood sugar stabilizing diet and supplements (for hormones, inflammation, aging, health). No soap or other cleanser except for hand washing! Water only or Oil cleanse. Aloe Vera mixed with niacinimide and a high linoleic acid oil for moisturizer and reduce pigmentation.

Diet effects acne in so many ways: hormone balance, inflammation, Insulin levels, digestion, allergies and intolerances, liver function, adrenal function, SHBG levels, sebum quality, cell function and turnover, nutrient deficiencies, body fat, etc. Basic advice: Eat, sleep, supplement and exercise like you are a diabetic. And eat real food!

Biotin is known for breaking some people out, and so is B6. But if this combo works for you, then keep taking them I guess.


Current regimen: garlic supplements [as needed], Enzymedica gluten blocker [as needed], nicadan [not sure if it works yet]. I try to simplify as much as I can. Don't take more supplements than you need....try one at a time and be patient.

The supplements that really helped me when my acne was at its worst: inositol, DIM [not as frequently now!] digestive enzymes [don't need them every day anymore, only on cheat days], herpanacine & vitamin C with rose hips/ low acid [not every day], regular sun exposure for vitamin D3, superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme supplements. NOTE: I do not recommend DIM for long term use, and I do not recommend hormonal creams without doctor supervision.

Lifestyle & Skin Care: acupuncture, regular exercise/ yoga, low histamine diet, avoiding unnecessary stress, balancing skin's PH (using Image Ormedics), using distilled/ filtered water to wash face, occasional high frequency facials...

Honestly you should stick to just one vitamin at a time. That way if your skin gets better or worse you know exactly what's causing it. Taking an assortment of vitamins at the same time you won't know what vitamins are actually helping your skin and which ones are making it worse. Nevermind that certain vitamins can interact with each other, it's just a stupid thing to do.
