Yes your a female. Females have acne for life. I'm sorry to bring the burden of bad news.

I`d better not say what I really think about this - the moderators would probably ban me. What I would say is that if you truly believe the inaccurate propaganda that you are spreading is correct, you really are disturbed.

Sorry though guys, look up outgrowing acne on YouTube: there's a video on there where I got my facts. Women can't outgrow acne.

And yahoo answers

This is exactly what I was worried about which is why I'm picking a fight when usually I always stay on the sidelines. Please don't be paranoid. I swear to you there are plenty of women who grow out of acne and you're only 17 so you have plenty of chance for doing so yet. Like I said in an earlier post, I have had a lot of female friends who have grown out of their acne at any age from about 16 to 20 and at 21 I'm personally hoping that it's still possible to do so after that age! I think it depends completely on your own body and rate of development but it is certainly not impossible for women to grow out of acne. To take a case in point, when was the last time you saw a woman over 50 with acne all over her face? I'm betting never. However, like I said, at the age of 17 you definitely don't need to be throwing in the towel just yet! You still have plenty of time to grow out of it and there are a lot of treatment paths you can go down in the meantime to keep it under control smile.png

Sorry though guys, look up outgrowing acne on YouTube: there's a video on there where I got my facts. Women can't outgrow acne.

And yahoo answers

I think the validity of any "facts" you found on YouTube or Yahoo answers is more than a little dubious so unless you can support what you say with scientific evidence forgive me if I continue to refute your claims.

I also wish to make it more clear to you the problem I have with the comments you're making on this forum. I never enter into confrontation because it's just not something I feel comfortable doing and I usually think it is either unnecessary or unwise. However, because of the impact these comments could potentially have on women who are less discerning (because of youth, inexperience etc.) I feel it is my duty to try to put these claims to rest and make you aware of the reality of what you are doing.

To illustrate, if I were to believe what you claim to be true in my current state of mind I really dread to think what I might do or how I might react. You are entering very dangerous territory when you make sweeping statements like these that can potentially eliminate a person's hope in life. Now, the other issue here is the complacency with which you are making these statements. "Sorry, better start accutane.." and "sorry to bring the burden of bad news" are not acceptable ways to be making any point on these forums because they show a total lack of respect and sensitivity towards the people at whom they're directed. Unless you think that women are such inferior creatures that they are unworthy of human compassion and understanding (in which case I'm afraid there's no hope for you) then I suggest you think very carefully about the potentially devastating impact of your recent actions on these forums before posting any more inaccurate and insensitive comments.

But isn't it true that women can't outgrow it? It's nearly impossible unless luck is on your side?

You're so kind and encouraging, thank you I really do appreciate it. I don't think gender makes the biggest difference on outgrowing it! I mean, I obviously got the acne gene from my dads side of the family. But he outgrew it, so there's hope, correct!?

And that's great that you have the attitude knowing that there's hope for it going away for you too:) 21 is still very young. :)

Hmmm....there's a lot going on in this thread, especially with the "women will have acne their whole lives" deal. I'll throw in my two cents.

I am a woman. And, yes, I have struggled with acne since puberty. HOWEVER, throughout my many years of dealing with it and talking to my friends and family, I've personally seen many women who had acne and successfully suvived it for the long term or even permanently.

Unfortunately, there may not ever be a one cure-all treatment plan because the fact is that every person is different and things that work for me may not work for other people and vice versa.

One thing that I want to make clear is that you HAVE to be positive, or it is possible that your acne will always be a problem. I am a true believer in trying new treatments while also using the power of your unconsious mind through meditation and positive affirmations. Your mind is stronger than you think and if you give up hope, then I can almost assure you that your treatments won't work because your body has already given up knowing that your mind has too.

For a long time, I did give up hope and just recently I have gotten myself back on the right track emotionally and mentally. I think I've found what's right for my body and, knowing this, my acne is clearing up tremendously. We can't always predict the best treatment, but we absolutely have control over our mind to help our bodies react in the most positive way that it can.

Good luck and please don't give up! We're all with ya! :)

No problem smile.png If your dad outgrew it then you are very likely to do the same. Do you know what age he grew out of it? That might give you a rough guideline but as I said at 17 you still have plenty of chance of growing out of acne at some point in the future anyway. You have every reason to be hopeful!

As do you! :) My father had acne from 17-23... it was pretty bad too from what Ive heard! I started getting zits at 11, but I am sure that is only because I went into puberty earlier than he did.

Don't worry. You outgrow it. I started getting pimples/acne from around 14 and they didn't go until I was around 20.

Ignore ResolvingSilk. Look around you, do you see acne on most women? It's quite rare to have acne past your early 20s. If your parents have good skin then you should too.

That's what I thought too! Until I came to the internet. LOL.

Hi Jewels, the person who will find the universal cure for acne will probably be a trillionaire. Why? Because it's so damn hard to find the cause for every person.

For some a simple cream will fix everything, for others it will mean diet changes, exercise changes etc.

I started getting acne around 12, and I managed to start outgrowing it now at 24. What does this mean for you?

Try everything, and don't give up. Analyze your regimen and your lifestyle. Also take into account the fact that you're exiting adolescence, which can help.

Your body is made of the things you eat. That is usually the starting point. Give it the things it may be lacking or the take away the things it doesn't want.

It's all big slush of hormones, bacteria, cells and things which interact together, then puberty unbalances all that. Sometimes it rebalances itself, sometimes you've got to do it yourself.

And don't listen to the negative guy, I think he's just having a bad day.

Welcome to the Internet, stay away from 4chan.

are you male? or a doctor? or an endocrinologist? I'm sorry - how do you know if females have acne for life? there's something out there for EVERYONE - no matter what thier gender - that can control acne and in most cases get rid of it. so don't write things off like that
