I dont understand how almost all teenagers have acne and older people do not. If it has something to do with hormones, isnt there anything teenagers can do to help with this problem that adults dont suffer from. If thats whats causing acne, would taking all these vitamins that r good for the skin even help if its not the root of the problem? eusa_think.gif

it is widely believed and accepted that teenage hormonal responses trigger acne. This isn't just what happens, it is a complext progress but it is NOT only teens. Women tend to report outbreaks around period times, and pregnancy (hormonal changes also) also adult acne occurrs possibly due to hormonal changes in later life.

Blame it on your testes, they are the source of all pain and suffering.

Not ALL teenagers have acne. I would say about 10% off all teenagers have acne. 85% never had and never will get acne and the other 5% will get adult acne. Believe me it does happen like this. I've seen it. Older people get acne usually because the main reason being that they never had acne as a teenager. I always sais that its better to have acne as a teenager then to have acne as an adult. Its definitely more embarassing for adults.

I don't think that theres anything teenagers can do to control their hormones because acne is usually a sign of 'growing into an adult'. And no I'm not talking about puberty becuse puberty only occurs for a few months to a year and teenage acne can last for years. Acne is always a hormonal thing.

85% have never had acne? What group of 20 kids are you talking about?

PS: Puberty is a 3-5 year process; not a few months. If you think it lasted a few months for you, I'd worry about how you'll go through life.

I was as well! But with no sign of it slowing down I went on Accutane...soon to turn 24.

I don't really understand it--my brother had terrible teenage acne that he grew out of at age 21.

I didn't grow out of it for whatever reason...probably because of my damn female hormones. Not fair.
