I think it is worth a try for sure. You acne is so mild and if you were to see a dermatologist I think they would start with Differin anyways. I don't think you need anything strong than differin either. So if you want to give it a shot I say go for it!

Also keep in mind that I am not a doctor either I am just speaking out of experience.

How often should I use it?

Sounds like a plan! You should use a gentle cleanser though like CeraVe foaming facial wash or purpose face wash. No treatments in the face wash but just something to take the dirt and old off your face. Also use a sunscreen. When using a topical your skin become sensitive to the sun. So make sure u find a good facial SPF. CeraVe makes a moisturizer with 30 SPF that I like a lot called CeraVe AM others seem to really like neutrogenas SPF.

Well, I would use the differin lets say before bed. When I wake up I wash my face with water. Should that be enough or is a moisturizer needed?

It might dry you out a bit. Basically what is does is helps speed cell turn over rates so you pores can get clear, thus no acne. But in order for it to do that it exfoliates your skin so you might get dry and irritated which is where a moisturizer will be needed, if you get a moisturizer I'd get one with SPF 2 birds with 1 stone. If you have any red marks from previous acne you will need the sunscreen to prevent them from getting darker aswell. Are you aganist using a cleanser?

I'm not against a cleanser, but I want to know how to see the best results the quickest. I live in Florida, so it's always sunny and hot, but besides for exercise and the odd walk, I'm not really out in the sun much unless I go to the beach, which isn't too often. I figure differin can be applied after wetting my face, then washing it off? Or do I put it on and leave it? I can deal with some drying, as long as the differin works quick to remove the acne.

You would wash your face and make sure your face is completely dry and then apply the differin. It is a topical so you leave it on all day. Which I would recommend using at a night so wash your face let it dry completely and then apply the differin go to bed after it has completely dried and when you wake up in the morning wash your space again and go on with your day but only apply the differin at night once a day. I just really recommend using a gentle cleanser to make sure your face is clean. Water only isn't going to clean your face. You get sweat and oils and dirt on you face and you need something like a cleanser to remove that. You need a clean face so the topical can effectively get to your pores and can do its work.

That should work. Have you used it before? I have used Cetaphil before and didn't like their moisturizers at all but I hear the cleanser is very similar to what I use the CeraVe foaming face wash

I've used it a few times, it's a surface clean feel. Not so much a full deep clean like most cleansers, but I guess since I'm putting on benzoyl at night, all I need is a gentle cleanser.

Yea I'm not a big fan of Cetaphil the cleanser leaves me feeling oily and so does the moisturizer I look oily too and I don't have a oil issue so that really bothered me. I have two full bottles of the stuff in the cupboard that I'll never use. I use CeraVe products and the cleanser does give me a deep clean feel. Which is nice. The moisturizer is a dream. I love it.

I'm excited to see how the differin works for you. It's not going to be a overnight fix though keep that in mind. You need to have patience with it. But it will do the trick with correct and regular use. Keep me updated k? When are u supposed to get it?

Retin-a 0.025% is a great topical cream, especially for your situation where you only had a few pimples

. But you have to be careful with sun exposure, wear sunscreen. I don't think you'll need antibiotics. Use neutrogena cleanser, toner, and moisturizer daily, that should do it.

Ok update for you guys! I haven't gotten the Differin in the mail yet. Should come in between today and next wednesday. I've broken out on my forehead and temple and cheek. They aren't whiteheads but inflammed painful pustules. All I've been using is Clean and Clear Acne Advantage Cleanser at night and Ivory soap in the shower in the morning. Hopefully when the Differin comes in, I can get rid of the Clean and Clear and use the differin at night with the Cetaphil Oil Control Foam Wash.

Were you personally ever on Retin A or Differin?

Hey! I know this question was addressed to someone else, but nonetheless I'll answer it, as I have been on a treatment consisting of Retin-a and Benzaclin (a mixture of 5% Benzoyl Peroxide and Clindamycin). At night time I was told to put on Retin-A and then in the morning I was asked to put on the Benzaclin by my derm. My acne was much much more severe than yours, and I was 100% clear for a whole year or so. I think the treatment becomes less effective after awhile though, as I'm now around 85%- 90% clear, but I'm relatively thankful, as my acne is nowhere as bad as it used to be. Thus, I recommend Retin-A and Benzoyl Peroxide, and if you can get your hands on Benzaclin or a treatment consisting of both of Benzoyl Peroxide, then I'd recommend the latter (Benzaclin).

Good luck!

I think Clean and Clear's products are very harsh on your skin, at least they are on me. Switch to something more gentle and see if that works out, as have dry skin can lead to acne as well. And later on, when your skin adapts to the Differin, you can start washing your face with a gentle formula that has around 0.5% Salicylic Acid if you still have some pimples left.

Once your differin comes don't use the clean and clear products anymore. And don't use a body bar of soap on your face. Make sure you are using a gentle facial cleanser like Cetaphil procure if you like that line or CeraVe products or even purpose has a really nice cheap bottle of cleanser.

Also I would use the differin at night after washing your face. Let your face dry completely then apply the differin if you need a moisturizer and you start to really dry out from the differin I would use a heavy moisturizer after the differin has dried completely then in the am wash your face again and then follow up with a light moisturizer hopefully something with SPF in it. The differin will make your face sensitive to the sun FYI
