Hello everyone, not entirely sure if any/many people will read this but it will be good for myself to check my progress anyway :)
I've had ups and downs(mainly downs) with acne since I was 12 years old(9 years). Have tried several different antibiotics/topicals which haven't helped :(
I believe my acne has affected me so badly emotionally and psychologically and I'm sick of it ruling my life. I'm finally ready to start my journey I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin and my derm has suggested 20mg for the first month and then review. I'm 5'5 and 8 stone.
I have been taking accutane for 10 days now and have actually been keeping a small log which I will put up here for the first 10 days. Then will update regularly.

Day 4/5- sore jawline pimples have popped up. spots on forehead come out. Blackheads on nose more noticable and look very oily.
Day 6- dry dry dry. Slightly red complexion.
Outbreaks on jawline. I'm finding the red marks left from previous active acne are taking quite a long time to fade.
Day 7- is it too early for an IB?! Bumps everywhere. Nose peeling.
Day 8- Red. Bumpy. Sore and dry. Flakey.
Day 9- dry red peeling sore. Using Nivea moisturiser(with vit E & jojoba oil in) to help but doesn't really relieve the soreness or dryness!
Day 10- new spots by chin and generally dry and red. Not much to report.

Thank you so much CWR24 :)

Day 11- MORE spots, they hurt too. This is tough to keep going. I feel disgusting :( I feel like the moisturising is giving me spots but I think it's just the initial outbreak. :( :( Does anyone know how long this will last as I think it started day 7. Will post a photo later on.

Day 12- I did 5 minutes facial steaming with a drop of tea tree oil. Skin feels really smooth in a few small patches. Red marks not fading. Well maybe they are but extremely slowly compared to pre-accutane.
Day 13- i now have no active spots. Which is great. Red marks very dark though.

Hiya, your log caught my eye as it sounds like we have very similar skin & I've just recently started 20mg a day too with nearly the same initial breakout. It's day 7 for me now and my skin is awful (lots of bumps/chin spots etc.) so it's so good to hear you're clearing up now! I can only hope I'm the same. Will keep my fingers crossed it only gets better from here! :)

Hiya Mittensxo, good to hear from you.
Yeah at such a low dose I thought I could avoid an initial breakout and certainly didn't expect it so soon! In past couple of days I've had a few more bumps/spots but they are much smaller and my poor face is finally starting to recover from what was quite frankly a horrible horrible week or so. I am finding that my red marks are fading extremely slowly which sucks. I really hope your breakout starts to clear soon & you have a successful journey :) we should keep each other updated! :)

Yeah deffinately. I have just started a log on here as well to document how its going but I'm a bit rubbish at keeping up with things like that so ill keep my eye out for updates on yours! :P & I know what you mean about a lower dose and hoping for a lesser breakout. My dermatologist seemed certain it wouldn't be that bad but I beg to differ!
Can I ask what moisteriser/face wash you're using? I've been using cetaphil but it's a bit rubbish at removing makeup so was just curious what products you were using as you're also from the UK.

The quality of my photos isn't great but you can still tell its definitely got worse since the first day. It's now just mainly red marks which I used to(for years!) fade (effectively) with plain nivea soft moisturiser. I would put a blob on and let it sink it and it worked great if you have the time to do it. It's just not really working since I've been on roac. It's very very slow and not sinking in that well! Frustrating. I'm just using a superdrug cream makeup remover which is really nice and soft and 'simple' cream cleanser at the moment. Then the nivea soft moisturiser which has jojoba oil & vitamin E :)

Okay this has made me feel a bit crap now!! Haha :(

I know what you mean about red marks, mine seem a lot redder since going on accutane which sucks. :/ but I would take them over proper pimples any day!

Hope you're feeling a bit more happy with your skin compared to Saturday. X

Feeling better now thank you:)
How's things going with you??

Day 24 now. I can't believe how fast it's been going actually. I've had a cluster of quite sore very red pimples on my cheek bone. And another cluster the other cheek by my chin/jawline.
Its been difficult I can't cover it with makeup and it's given me a massive knock in confidence.

I had a minor nose bleed yesterday and a few days ago I went to look in the mirror and my lips were about to pour with blood. Ill put a pic up. Blackheads are all being pushed to the surface which is good although it currently looks pretty awful! :)

Lips!!!

Ahh your poor lips! It looks so sore. :/ mine have been sooo dry it's ridiculous and bleeding so I can deffinately sympathise! Sorry to hear your skins been breaking out a bit, I've found mines turned awful again this week. :/ I thought the IB was going away but now it's flared up again! I'm on week three now though so I suppose I should expect it to be like this for the next few weeks. (Which sucks!)

It's been really hard keeping up with this. I've put together a few photos which I'm going to upload instead. Hope you're doing well mittens :)

I'm on day 44 now.
I have mainly just red marks. A few under skin bumps which are fine if I don't pick at them!! The blackheads on my nose are really prominent now but aren't ready to come out yet. I have a few on my chin too.
I've been using blistex medicated relief cream for my lips which have improved a lot :)
