nobody seems to really know why anyone starts to get adult acne when they never previously had acne during childhood

try to think of life events

and the first breakout of acne

please think of the first significant time you started to get acne and what occured recently

since i do not know who is claiming to be replying, im going to take the comments as votes

looking for common causes, not rare ones -- please keep it short

looking for at least 10 comments on one cause for me to look into it further

look, you may not care, but i do -- misinformation or awfully poor data is extremely dangerousmuch comes from marketers, gurus, other media, and simply unreliable, careless people, fake or real, intentionally or not. they are NOT there to help you -- and they don't care about you -- understand that. if they did, they would make sure the data was reliable -- absolutely reliable -- among other things. so you better have diligence. You should care about where you get your data from, because 99% of it is crap, and if you still don't care, then i don't care, and you can go ahead and eat unreliable fast food junk data and bloat yourself up to become a low-quality person for the rest of your life. good people don't want that for you, only the bad do. at times, you'll piss a lot of people off when you tell them what's reality. there's a lot of sigs, and if you want to keep with quality, this is the only place i personally trust until someone shows me solid, reliable evidence.

i have a one 1-line reply per directly acne-specific thread policy. all distractions/notifications turned off. if you have reliable evidence i should see, you may pm

I think I caused my acne myself. I got a single zit, attacked it with all the products I could find and then ruined my skins natural PH balance and oils.

There's literally nothing I can do to cure my acne now. It's mild, but very persistent. I breakout a little, they go away and then the process repeats itself. I only get pustules too (red round the outside with a white head/tip) on my chin and around my nose, no other form of acne.

I don't know literally anybody (in person) my age with the type of acne I have...or acne at all. It's really annoying.

that's very very interesting, but what do you mean by "attacked it with all the products" -- did you use specifically use ben p? just in different brands. why would you use all products just on one zit. and any idea of the dosage?

Same thing happened to me, except mine was from oral antibiotics.

I also recall that whenever I used benzoyl peroxide for prolonged periods of time, the area would get irritated and dry

I broke out in a rash. The cause was unknown so my primary physician prescribed me a topical steroid cream. The initial rash went away and proceeded to large clusters of pimples filled with pus around my nose and cheeks.

I stopped using the steroid cream, but the acne persists and more are appearing in those regions.

My face has been blemish-free up until now. I am in my late twenties and never had to endure teen acne, so this adult acne is quite frustrating to deal with.

Had to take multiple antibiotics after getting recurrent UTIs. More than 6 times in 7 months which ended in a one month long low dosage antibiotics. At the end of it, I did not have any more UTIs but my acne which had started forming during this period of antibiotics got pretty severe.

I feel the antibiotics messed my digestive track which started showing on my skin.

I had some throughout teenage and early 20s, but had it WAY under control.  It was coming off of birth control (at age 23.5, after 5.5 years on) that made my poor hormones go CRAZY!

Thankfully, we seem to be on an upward swing. :)

I suffered from moderate acne through my teenage years and into my early 20's.  I definitely tried LOTS of different products to keep it under control.  I'm 30 now and have mild breakouts but now have fairly consistent scalp acne.

I stopped taking the contraceptive pill when I was  22, (I started taking it when I was 15 because of the acne). So the problem I had as a teenager, came back, but much stronger than it was before.
